Red box, white exclamation mark
I started to play a saved game and it said. Some items may not be avalible. Now when have the Anti matireal rifel I get a red box with a white exclamation mark around my guy and if I throw home made granaids they blow up in my face. How do I fix this problem. All the items in the couriors stash are gone

I have to down load the game from steam. I'm at 12 hours right now. It took them one second to deleat the game. I have high speed internet. Steam said it would take 5 hours.

First thing is first.

If it says SOME ITEMS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, you either:
A. Removed a DLC
B. Removed a mod.

One of those is the only explaination. The problem lies with that you somehow still have content from the deleted content and when you went to use it, the mesh and stuff was missing, so now there is the Gamebryo Engine error mesh following the player. Fully uninstall the game, DELETE the entire game directory, and delete all saves. Reinstall and start a new game. This will 100% help.

However, DO NOT attempt to use your old save after you reinstall or the game will again have the red block and you will need to clear the directory by a reinstall AGAIN.

And this is why you shouldn't mess with your Data/texture folders and continue with save games.

Also this is a good reason to use Nexus Mod Manger, where it makes it easier and much safer to install and uninstall mods during game saves.

For example, if you install a weapon retexture mod, nexus mod manager (NMM) will remember how the data/texture folder looked before altering, so if you uninstall the mod, it will replace the old files back.

A. That would be a NO!
B. That would be a NO!
I didn't remove anything and I didn't have any mods.
I did uninstall and reinstalled and used a saved game. It's working fine.
I didn't mess with any thing. Sorry guys the game just messed up. Thank you for your help.

For all your items from the couriers stash DLC to be missing, the DLC must of been uninstalled. or the Files removed. nothing else could cause that surely? Verify your game files and it might sort it out.

I'm having the same issue, specifically with the Gun Runner's Arsenal DLC items (weapons won't display, and I'm somehow wielding a giant red box with a white exclamation mark instead). Is it an issue with load order, maybe? I have the ultimate edition, but I've yet to see if any of the other DLCs display correctly.

If you have mods, toggle Archive Invalidation in FOMM, if not, validate the files through steam

I'm in the same boat, I downloaded the game and tried to run it, after the prologue the doctor was red and majority of his stuff was red. When I tried to select my character gender the male was fine but female had the red error. Here's a screenshot:

Edit: After validating game files I had 2 files (Approx. 1GB worth) that didn't pass check, I'll let it download and hopefully it gets fixed. I really want to play this game again.

Edit: The two files I had to redownload were corrupted. While downloading the game, there was a huge interruption of my home internet which caused them to only partially download. Not sure how that happened but re-downloading them worked.

That is a missing mesh. Number of reasons for this but usually a mod conflict.

There could be another reason (that causes this problem for me a lot). If you have more than ~130 mods installed, New Vegas screws up the load order and causes the big error object in game.

I don't know how many mods you have installed but I get the same problem and I'm 100% certain that the number of mods is the cause for me.

Just re-install your mods.
