yes right click on the file go to properties and I assume you're talking about the configuration files. Un-check read only.

What are configuration files? Sorry, like I said, I know nothing.

just right click the file and go to properties. Configuration files or ini files. Intial settings. The icon on window based OS's look like a piece of paper with a small gear on it. A text document, if you're not sure simply right click the file and it will tell you what it is.

Can you walk me through like program files/ steam/ steamapps/ common/ fallout new vegas/ then what?

Every time I click on properties in a file then turn read only off it just turns back on.

Let me ask you think are you using a Mod manager or trying to do this without one having no knowledge of what a simple text file looks like?

http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/modmanager/?

Install that which you will be using a lot of if you're modding. Then use the "download with manager".

Nexus mod manager will ask you if you want to change a file attribute to be able to access the file to make changes for mods that make ini changes. Click yes and install your mod. Watch the tutorials in the link given from Gopher. If you plan on moding and want to save yourself a lot of time you need to learn how to mod and proper management of your mods or you will be like every other little kid on the forums whining their game is crashing etc etc. Not trying to be a jerk but it's true. :D

I have th manager and know how to use it. XRE CARS doesn't work with the manager and I have windows vista not OS.I know you were trying to help me but, what you said was kind of rude.

Well suck it up, you've the entire world of information at your finger tips at the click of a mouse. Pull the thumb out of your mouth.

and fyi you can use NMM or FOMM to install mods without having the green button "download from manager" button on Nexus. Download the zip and install through nexus or FOMM.

In Nexus Mod Manger go to the Mods tab and to the left "add mod from file". You don't need to unzip the file either.

Mesh file, sound file, Texture file. Drop these into the Data folder.

XRE-Cars.esp to the data folder. There is a readme there to!

= INSTALLATION =
Place the contents of the rar in \Data in your Fallout New Vegas folder.

= REQUIREMENTS =
- XRE needs NVSE v0.2.0.12 installed and will absolutely not run without it.
- A wall removing mod is strongly recommended. Get it at the Nexus site.
- Get the New Vegas Stutter Remover plugin for smoother and possibly more stable gameplay with XRE. I recommend
editing the ini file in Data\NVSE\Plugins, changing the 'MaximumFPS' entry to 60. See if you find it an
improvement.

= PERMISSIONS =
No part of this mod may be modified, redistributed or used in other work without express permission from the author.
Permitted modding referencing is planned for a future release.

= CONTACT =
Please post issues and comments on the XRE CARS! Nexus site. Otherwise, you can contact me at modding@ermeso.com.

Already tryed FOMM. I don't have the option to "install through nexus"
Crix May 7, 2013 @ 10:14pm
OMG yes you do. I just installed the mod without download button. I seriously doubt you installed Nexus mod manager from that comment. Watch the video up top after downloading the mod AND Nexus mod manager tool. How old are you? lol Put some effort into this.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
