I have the problem for months also. But unfortunately for me, any attempt to solve the problem have failed.

If it is just showing the intro and then dieing at the main menu, it is likely a load order problem, which CAN occur even without mods, check your data files tab and make sure all the official .esms are checked. If that fails to fix it, and you arent running any mods, than a reinstall is in order, beyond that, try farting with your graphics and updating drivers. If you are running mods, turn them off 1 at a time, testing after turning one off, to see if any of them are causing problems, I would advise starting with the largest mods first. If it is getting past the main menu and dieing after the "get shot in the head" sequence, then something is conflicting with the starting sequence, or you may have corrupted files.

I'm having the same problem. Whenever I try to start a game it crashes, and the rare time it lets me, i crash whenever i try to enter a new cell and I can never load up that character again because it crashes. I have no mods. I've tried every different setting for graphics. I've re-installed it multiple times, I've verified the game cache, I've even done the thing most people recommend which is to edit the .ini file with the iNumHWThreads=2 bit. I have a fairly good computer and can run Skyrim on max with out a problem.

Do you have to ctr-alt-del or does it actually ctd? that can help pinpoint the issue, another thing is to take a look at the fallout 3 tweakguide, it shares many settings, and may help further, I have no clue other than that maybe something is corrupted, which a reinstall should fix. The only thing I can really say to do is to use windows event viewer and copy paste the error code into google, and see what turns up.

I took a look at the tweakguide, and it didn't really help. I've already reinstalled a couple of times, and it's with steam.

okay, go to control panel, administrative tools, event viewer, click on local, then expand the error list, right click on the application error listing and click view all instances. Find the most recent one where it says faulting application name: FalloutNV.exe , and copy paste the information in the general box into a comment, and I will be able to tell you what most likely caused it.

Okay, Uninstall Lenovo onekey theater and the problem should be fixed. That application can make modifications to your graphics adapter/monitors overall settings, and attempts to activate surrond sound, both using a hotkey. That is what is causing the issue, uninstalling it would be the easiest solution, but you could also try updating it, either way, remove/update it, restart your computer and try again.

i'm having trouble with fnv crashing all the time, too. i started with the ps3 version which constantly froze the ps3, and hoped the steam version would be better, but it's just as bad. really annoying bethesda would sell a game that's hard or impossible to play for so many people.

p.s. i don't use any mods or console commands
try the 4gb enabler and fake fullscreen, google them and they will pop up.
