trouble with mods (250+ installed)

I loaded a lot of mods (250+) and now the 4gb patcher doesn't work automatically and I have to run it every time I boot the game, and most times it completely locks me out of re-opening the game window once it is minimized. Before this, I had trouble with getting the "Out of Memory!" error message upon loading a save from the start menu. Any help?

M E R G E. Especially all of those gun mods. That'll trim like 15% of your plugin space. Also, some of the mods you're using are horribly dated. Ditch, or seek modern equivalents. xNVSE has allowed some mods to run without needing to fill a plugin slot ("espless" as they're called), which can help some of the bloat too.

I use Vortex, can you merge mods with that?
