Controller problems with New Vegas That I hope I can get advice on
Basically, when i first got new vegas, i had ps3 controller and new vegas not only immediately recognized it but was optimized for it. since i got into pc stuff in 2020, i wasn't used to using a keyboard so i was super excited that i could use my controller, especially since i found my keyboard/monitor/mouse were all found in the trash. anyway, the best part was that my controller was recognized with mods. JAM recognise my controller so i could use the gun menu and use the sprint options and could even configure it in the mod menu. on night, i accidentally pressed the built in sleep mode button on my trash keyboard from 2003. computer went into sleep mode instantly so i turned it back on like nothing happened. unfortunately, my controller stop being recognised. i tried everything. i eventually settled on computer program that tells the computer that my ps3 controller is a xbox controller and use steam controller support but it isn't the same. i can't use modded content with the controller anymore(like FPS Leaning, JAM, ect). it's been 2 to 3 years give or take and yeah, maybe i should get over it but i really love playing new vegas with controller. it sucks that i choose not to use really cool mods because my controller isn't fully recognised. (i had saw a post here a while back with someone who had a similar problem but no one answered him so i didn't get anywhere unfortunately.( i also used Controller Support NVSE and the sort but it too haven't worked.) If anyone could take the time to help me with this i would really appreciate it. you guys have a wonderful day.

Imagine handicapping yourself because you can't get over using the worst possible device to play this game with.

I'm no m&k elitist, but there are just certain games better suited for m&k, this game especially. I was stubborn for a while too. I always had a 360 controller hooked up to my PC for the longest time.

There's only two solutions that I can see happening here:

1. Redo whatever made the controller work in the first place. Uninstall/reinstall that controller program, basically do everything over.
2. Get a cheap 360 controller with a usb cord at a store. They run no more than like $20 and NV should recognize it automatically. If not just switch it the game menu.

Disable Steam Input per this game for now, it tends to futz with a lot of older games from what I've experienced.

Also don't give up on using a controller unless you really have to. You certainly don't have to, but if your living space is cramped and you lack the flexibility to do mouse and keyboard gaming, sometimes controller definitely is the better way to go.

Just made a list for TTW. I’m on a newer laptop with windows 11. Turned on dinput in steam big picture and launched FNV from mod organizer and it just worked. Fully customizable and all that. If only I could use my back paddles tho.
Also imagine tryna rag on people looking for help in steam community posts 💀💀💀:steambored:
