If you have any mods disable them all to make sure it is not Mod related.

Also, check to see if the game saves are all there:

This happened to me yesterday. What worked for me was turning off all the auto save options in the gameplay menu, quit the game and then restart it.

That didn't worked for me. This is frustrating. I cannot load any of my saves now.

I'm having the exact same problem and indeed it is very frustrating...

I gave up on the game today after having the 1000th random crash during the game and losing 30 to an hour of gameplay. It's a great game but all this hassle is driving me nuts.

Recently I posted a thread about how ridiculously buggy this game was, but it got locked by mods after it's been swamped by fanboys telling me that I was lying.

So get ready.

Yes starting a new game and quickloading will always work. Also loading a SYS save will always work. So if you cannnot load from the main menu then try starting a new game and quickloading to your current game, been play NV for a long time and this has always worked

Very much this; I'd have this problem with the Xbox 360 version, where it wouldn't load my existing saves. The fix for that was to make a new game, let it autosave once, quit, and then I could reload my existing save.

It's frustrating; I love the game, but it is also one of THE buggiest games I've ever played.

I found what worked for me was as the launcher came up press data files, and in the bottom right there is a thing that says load loose files that you should check. Now you should be able to load your saves from the main menu

I had seen that box and I was wondering what is this about...If this is required to solve this problem, why is it not checked by default?
