And the reason why? It's not much use to me if somebody just says buy this or that. I need reasons why to buy lol
It's basically a brother of Fallout: NV, they are similar, if you liked F:NV, you probably gonna like F3 as well, probably.
Buy Fallout 3 with DLCs if you liked Fallout New Vegas.
You wont regret that buy.
Fallout New Vegas is Fallout 3.5 with less graphical atmosphere than 3.
I prefer Fallout 3 with all DLCs.
Besides that, there's FO3 which is basically NV, but gloomier and with a b-tier movie, extremely linear storyline(and 300% more crashing). Unlike 4/76, bethesda tried actually tried to go for the older games' feel with 3, and I don't think it's nearly as bad as people say it is. It's important to note that a lot of the aspects of NV that people love were pioneered by 3, and while NV does them better, 3 still deserves praise for successfully translating a 90s isometric game into a 3d FPS. And also it's lackluster story isn't fully bethesda's fault, since they got a lot of lore from Fallout Tactics. It's definitely worth playing if you've exhausted everything you can do in NV.
F1/F2 are good as well, but they can be a slog for people who don't like isometric games, and I think people are lying to themselves when they say they prefer them over F3/NV, as well as ignoring the glaring issues the classic games have simply to ♥♥♥♥ on bethesda. I mean, I've put more hours into F2 over the years than I ever have with F3, but I would say 3 is objectively the better game.
tldr; if you like the lore aspect of the games, play F1/F2. If you want a pretty good game that compromises by having a mid story and lore issues, but tries to be faithful, then play F3. If you don't care about lore and just like the fallout "world" and the way the game plays, then play F4/F76.
F4 for the gameplay
I recommend 1 and 2. After that you can maybe dabble in 3, but it's pretty weak and 4 is just atrocious and an insult to the franchise.
So I think it depends entirely on your mood and taste which are worth or not. Me personally the one that I cannot enjoy today is Fo3.
If you want something similar to New Vegas...well there is nothing in terms of plot or factions. Falloit 3, 4 and 76 are your options.
