What does partial controller support mean?
If I buy this, can I use my gamepad or not? Right now I have a generic one but hope to have an xbox 360 controller within the week. Can I use them or not? I'm old and never learned to play with the keyboard and my memory frankly isn't that great to remember which key does what. The controller I can handle. So I'm holding off on buying until I know for sure. thanks

its 360 controller only without a 3rd party program to remap the buttons for other controllers. thats what partial controller support means.

Great thanks - I have a receiver coming from ebay so that my wireless 360 will work on my PC so this is good news. Thanks
Bit more detail : Everything in the actual game can be done with a controller. Just the main menu requires mouse input as far as I know, which is why it`s "partial"

No it means he has to use the mouse or keyboard for some of the menu items...

I use a Logitech f310 and it works perfectly fine, the 360 controller only thing is complete nonsense.

Don't spread mis-information.

As a side note to the OP in regards to memory, if you don't use it you lose it. I am not sure what you consider old but the transition to mouse and keyboard is not that tough and it controls better over all, but to each his own. I use my conttroller only when tired on the couch and I run the HDMI from the laptop to the TV.

It means almost 60, in my case. Maybe I need a wall chart or something! Thanks for the clarification.

Haha, I hear ya, I'm not telling you nothing,I totally understand being set in ways =)

But you should be more than fine with the controller, the game has a slower pace and with the VATS system slows it down even more.

no if you use a 360 controller it plays the same as a 360 which means you can play the game without the need of a mouse or keyboard at all. and before you speard mis-information play the game with a 360 controller even the main menu can be done without the need of a mouse or keyboard. 360 contollers are not the same as a other controllers they are wired differently.

...yeah no. I have a DS3 I prefer to use for certain games, I can emulate it as a 360 pad - for the games that will only take those - just fine and it acts exactly like it would were it a 360 pad as far as the game is concerned.

Yep the X-input on the Logitech controllers do the same thing. Perhaps I'm just thinck and could not figure out how to exit the game cause I generally don't use controllers. Testing now...

--my favorite game is Skyrim, but play Fable and Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning too. I seem to think the pace will be similar?

Yes I'd say they are in the same range. I also have those games as far as the comparison goes.
I was wrong about the logitech f310, it does everything, there is no limited functionality with the menus etc.
While I'm not quite as old as OP I'm getting up in years and I have "sausage" fingers; keyboard and mose don't work for me cause my fingers are too bug and end up hitting many keys at once. I started using a Nostromo speed pad years ago and later on I picked up a Logitech G13 gaming pad. I map My WASD to either the crosspad on the speed pad or the thumb stick on the G13. It's a little expensive for either of these devices but their easy to program and easy to use; it's the best of both worlds really. I suggest anyone who has a difficult time with mouse and keyboard but want's the sort of prescision that you can only get from a mouse to check out either one of those devices.
Jeff I agree the G13 is a good option. I use it in conjunction with a G600 and I am good for most everything including Photoshop, Maya, After Effects etc..

Personally I waited for sale days such as black friday to pickup my logitech toys, I ended up only paying $45 for my g13 and 30 for the g600 on amazon and newegg.

My favorite selling point for thr g13 is the fact you can rotate the whole thing to the most comfortable positon for your arm/wrist.

Bought the game and loaded it and was able to play with my cheapo Logitec controller. So now to figure out all the ins and outs of the game.
