How to unlock a terminal?
i'm doing this mission at Camp McCarren where i have to investigate a late-night-break-in at the control tower. i went to the terminal just outside, and not having a clue how to hack the terminals, i failed and locked it up. it says "please contact an administrator" but i don't know where/what this administrator is so i cannot unlock it.

if anyone knows how to unlock them then please tell me :)

open the console, click the terminal and type "unlock"

or reload a previous save.

In the future, always quit after 3 failed tries and reopen the terminal,

If you don`t want to cheat it there`s a perk the allows you to retry failed terminals once. I`d say it`s a waste of a perk slot, especially since hacking is so easy, but it`s there if you want it.

There's no such thing as cheating in a single player game.

There is nothing ethically or morally wrong in the manipulation of game parameters in a single player game. Whether it be mods, guides, or consolitis.

Ain't dumb, just a point of view.

I didn`t say there`s anything WRONG with doing it. But cheating remains cheating.

When you use the console to give yourself 5M caps and utterly shatter the game's economy and piss on the remains, that's called cheating. (Not something I've done, just an example pulled from my nether regions)

Does anyone know how to hack? Use 3 of your 4 chances, then search one by one each piece of gibberish until a word is made up of the symbols, click it and it removes a fake dud word. Or, keep going and one of the hacks gives you 4 chances again. Always quicksave too right before.

I've quicksaved once since I started PC gaming at least 10 years ago.

Quicksaving is a staple in PC gaming, especially in Gamebryo games. IT makes hacking and lockpicking so much easier without console commands, and it's a useful habit to take on.
Feh. I either get it right or exit and try again. :D:

This is the right way to do this. And what he means, for those who don't know, is the pairs of () and {} and [] and <>. click on those. as long as the same <end and start> thingies are on the same line of the terminal. As a signifier that you've found a pair, more than one of those weird symbol gibberish things will be highlighted.
