Question about Lanius
Question, Caesar, as well as the wiki, say that Lanius has a scar of some sort on his face, which is why he has to wear his mask.
But when you take off his helmet, he's got a normal face. Even the picture on the wiki shows the same.
Is this because they didn't bother making a custom model for him and he DOES have a deformation his face canonically, or because Caesar was lying?

His face is supposed to be covered in scars, yes, but thex didn't create a custom scar mesh for his face.
Some people even made a fan film about him a year or so back.

The fan film is pretty decent from memory, although I am fond of Nuke Break and it's less serious tone (At least in the first season).

The only way to de-armor him is through a glitch. Since his face was never supposed to be shown, they never made a scarred mesh for him. Canonically though, yes, his face (and most of his body) is heavily scarred.

Maybe they just lied about the scars. Maybe it was just a way to spread his reputation.

Perhaps, the Legion does like to spread rumours about some members.
Like someone (Lucius?) said that Lanius was a full legionary by age 12, but I don't think the Legion would even have existed when he was 12.

Based on the article on him on Gamepedia, it appears to be a myth related to a cult of personality, or more accurately a cult of ferocity surrounding Lanius. The scars are apparently correct, though, which considering the tale about his tribe, assuming it's correct, getting out of that without a few scars would be impossible.
