If you want to do it yourself in the geck though, you can create a new armor item without a designated mesh/texture and give it the same item effects as the armors you want.
To make sure the riot headgear's sneak vision works right though, you'll probably want to create a copy of that item by changing its baseid and removing its equip regions, which should also make it invisible.

It adds more advanced night and thermal vision features, and you can add it to any existing piece of headgear.
