I need help! My game is nigh unplayable. Ideas?
I may of made a mistake in my FNV game. I was doing the quest "Old School Ghoul" for Raul, and I could not get Ranger Andy (in Novac) to say the proper trigger for Raul. So, I looked for the answer online, and I stumbled upon a tidbit that recomended, among other things, that I use the console command "rdf", which reset ALL NPC dialouge trees.

Besides already being fairly far along ahead in the game and reset all the trees (which is frustrating), now whenever I talked to any random/non-unique npc, they always open up a dialouge box with one option: "Hey". I click that, and the dialouge box then continues to "Goodbye". This even happens when I talk to the Arms Merchant at the 188 Trading Post.

Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

I have already:
Googled the answer, and found nothing useful
Looked in Nexus for a mod that fixes this
Deleted local files and re-downloaded a fresh copy of FNV

My friend suggested deleting the .int (or somthing file) and the game would make a fresh one, but I was hoping for a console related solution.

Your only fix in such a circumstance is to load an earlier save. Once RDF is entered, it's done.

For future reference, you can use RDF on JUST one NPC, instead of resetting everybody s dialogue.
I don't know any fixes via the console command or any mods, but:

Next time when you play the game, make sure you have Raoul before you talk to Ranger Andy. Once you talk to Ranger Andy, he'll ask you to investigate the nearby NCR Ranger station, then report back to him. After this little side-mission, you'll have a conversation with Ranger Andy; after speaking with Andy, talk to Raoul and he'll comment about how Andy is still being an active member of the community despite his age. You'll be given the chance here to console Raoul and say that age is irrelevant, and that'll cheer him up.

Hmmm, okay, but I still don't quite understand why I keep getting dialouge boxes popping up? do you happen to know a fix for that?

Okay, I don't really have that issue anymore, but thank you for your input! I now need to get rid of the dialouge boxes that pop up when I talk to "extra" NPCs

Like baddude said, you're basically scewed unless you've got a save made before you used rdf.

In hindsight, a better fix would have been to make a plugin with the "Say Once" flag turned off for that particular line of dialogue to trigger again with Raul present.
"You're with the NCR, right?" which for reference is FormID 8F071.

Or the console command: set "000e61a5".MetRangerAndy to 1

Yep, thats probably true, but my issue is that now there is a dialouge pop up box for every npc, even the ones without "real" dialouge. This occurs even with the new charecter I created. Any ideas?

In my experience you don't need to wait to talk to ranger Andy before you have Raul as a companion. Same goes for other companions. Take Arcade to Hildern after you've already done the Vault 22-vegetationquest, and Arcade will still speak to you afterwards (how Hildern used to be a FotA, etc). Same for Raul, just choose one dialogue-line, finish the conversation, go outside and Raul will ask you what you think of Andy.

However, there's a chance that this could be a fix made by one of the mods I have installed, I'm not sure. Mission Mojave (Ultimate Edition) and/or Error Corrections, or some such. So if you don't have those installed, maybe try them.

Yes, I am running the following mods:

Fort Orange Mod
Project Nevada Mod
More Perks Mod
HD start up screens Mod
New Bison Steve Mod
A World of Pain Mod
NCR embassy door Mod

All of them but the HD Screen Mod add NPCs


The kicker is that this issue was occuring before I modded the game

It's a Gopher mod, so I don't think you will have any compatibility issues, but if you still have any problem with the quest, try to make a Merge Patch with FNVEdit.
