Adding Night Vision to Headgear - Modding Help

New to modding and just looking for a way to apply a night vision effect to a pre-existing piece of armor. I've compared the Hazmat Darklight Cowl from OWB to the item I want to have NV, and the only thing I can figure that matters for it is the object effect. But, here's the problem: I've set the item I want to have NV to the same object effect as the Cowl and, in game, the effects listed are Night Vision, but the vision itself stays the same.



Can anyone offer their assistance?

I would assume a script is involved somewhere.

You might just have to manually copy the effect/script but have it point to your item instead.
