Multiple follower mod?
So, I like having two or three companions in games, generally, and am wondering which is the best mod to allow this? (I'm assuming that Willow and Russell, for example, can't be recruited together? I know in Skyrim some of the popular follower mods are 'outside' the vanilla follower system and thus don't need a multi-follower mod unless you want multiple vanilla/vanilla-system followers...)

I've seen JIP Companions Command & Control[www.nexusmods.com] which looks cool, but I'm a tiny bit wary of mods with a lot of bells and whistles, and Unlimited Companions [www.nexusmods.com] which seems more straightforward, has a LOT more endorsements (although 4k+ is not to be sneezed at) but, well, doesn't have the bells and whistles. Other consideration is: the first one requires the MCM and for some reason I couldn't get that to work (got an error that I can't remember the details of, but something about NVSE plugins being missing? Will edit later when I've checked what it was, am about to head out!)

So, any strong preferences? Any warnings? And does the second one allow me to set followers to essential in hardcore mode? I'm not interested in the achievement or anything, I like all the other features of hardcore mode, but I don't like having to babysit dreadful AI into not dying all the time... (I am happy to babysit dreadful AI aside from that. (I'm guessing the answer is no, but thought I'd check, I see the first one does allow that.)

nvse sounds like it has not been installed correctly, you must fix that
most of the popular mod companions work much better than vanilla though (same program method)
vanessa is optimized for JIP and most other "bell and whistle mods"
willow is rock solid
russel might be the least compatible, that is because of the content of the mod, still one of the best
niner is good also

Sorry, I know my description of the MCM issue was frustratingly vague, however I'm 99% certain it was an issue with either my download or installation of MCM rather than my NVSE as I installed NVSE correctly (i know, everyone saysthat, but I've installed SKSE and OBSE a million times, it's not that different) and other mods that require it are working fine. When I looked into the issue it seemed to be mostly something having gone wrong in installation and I wasn't invested enough in fixing it to bother as I only installed it for OneHUD which I'd like but could live without.

Thanks for the advice :)

The error message I had was the same as the third post on this thread

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1119106-darnified-ui-nv-and-mod-configuration-menu-confliction/

Although I had MTUI on that save, have now switched to DarN, dunno if that makes a difference. I also have UIO, and installed everything with FOMM.
with nvse if you type in-game in console GetNVSEVersion it will tell you it if it's working
i believe you though
MCM if you have nevada project can screw up though,i can't remember what sequence that happens in though
as for HUD changing mods, you have to be very careful with what you do,it seems different for most depending on what they do with those,so it's hard to say exactly what is going on for me

Sorry, forgot to say, I did that and it said version 4, which everything says it should say version 1, but also everything says if it's not installed you'll get an error message so I'm thinking it should be okay, and maybe it's changed since the things that say version 1 were written?

Hmm, maybe I'll try again with MCM without oHUD and see if it works...

i think the hud mods might be doing you in
nvse is at version 4 atleast (i think it is 4.5,but i still haven't checked this for myself) so that should be good
you need to completely remove hud mods, they are "dirty mods" (edit vanilla files)in general from what i see with this game
verify your game after being rid of them

Ah, thanks for the heads up, I'll do that when I'm next on the PC!
FYI..and others :tgrin:
i left out wendy in those companion mods because she does not have a voice actress, only vanilla vioce files (very well done to i might add )
but i think she might be the birth of all those other companions from what i can see
if not,she has some bloody clever scripting

Just to confirm, I validated my game files, re-downloaded and re-installed MCM and it seems fine, I'd like to try oHUD (really like iHUD in Skyrim) but am not keen enough to try installing it if it might cause issues again :/

I like the sound of Wendy, definitely, and editing the vanilla files can work well (I really liked the Sydney permanent companion mod for FO3 which I believe she's done that way), I'm sure I'll 'meet' her at some point :)
