Ghost in the Lucky 38
I have been playing fallout new vegas since it was released in 2010 and every time i do a play through i fnd something new that i didnt know before. However I found that the lucky 38 was always very creepy and I tried to minimize the amount of time that i spent in it. Recently, on one of my playthroughs, I was searching the casino for things to take and sell later, I found that the casino floor has mostly blackjack, poker and slots, with a significant lack of craps tables. At the back corner of the casino you can a couple of craps tables. These are the only craps tables in the casino, and you can't find any others in the casino. They are all very close to each, I imagine it would be very difficult to play with the tables being so close together like they are supposed to be put away, but there might be no place to store them.

what it noticed is that when you get in the center of all the tables, and listen very closely you can hear the sound of someone rolling dice, and the sound specifically comes from the table closest to the center of the room. You can't hear sounds like this anywhere else in the casino, and the last time anyone has been in the casino was 200 years before.

It might simply be a mistake the developers made, and didnt realize they made it, but I looked all over the internet and couldn't find anything like this. I play with 100+ mods and use the new vegas script extender, so it may cause this to happen.

Still the Lucky 38 is one of the creepiest places in the game for me, and it sent shivers down my spine when I heard the sound of rolling dice, in an empty casino.

Many static objects in the game has ambient sound attached to them. Sometimes they have a second version with no sound attached. The craps tables in the Lucky 38 Casino are all references of the same static object, so the sound is not coming from one, but from all of them.

Sorry if I ruined your ghost story. ;)

No i checked specifcally none of the other tables in the entire casino make these type of sounds, the sound of the rolling dice is specifically coming from one table. Maybe im wrong, still creepy though

Well, the GECK says you're wrong. Each of the tables are the same base object with the same sound attached. Each of them them will randomly play a sound from the folder containing sounds for the craps table every few seconds. If you leave one table and go to another, you may still hear sound from the table you just left (or other tables,) but stay long enough and you will hear one close to you as well. I just spent 2 minutes in the casino, and it seemed to work as I expected.

I'm not sure but I think I may have heard that and some other similar noises here and there but I always assumed it was just ambient noises. Still, I do find Lucky 38 a creepy place and, as you, tried to spend the less amount of time possible in there. Everytime I had to go there, I would go all quiet and turning around every minute because I had the feeling "someone" or something was watching me and following me. Kinda the same happened when I was in Sierra Madre but it was different because I could actually see the ghosts but when you just hear noises and cannot see anything... well, it becomes a bit too creepy.
Is this another one of those scary spaghetti things?

Isn't it more creepy that there is one of those ashtrays in the casino that still fumes like somebody just had left a cigar in there just a few moments ago ? I know, it's also a standard requisite going back to F3. The music in there is pretty unnerving and transports the dusty atmosphere of the place like your character chokes on the spent air in there.
The suite is pretty neat but does anyone ever use it? I just pimped it up to see what it does but I never used it as a home base. The whole casino looks & feels like a movie set, not like a real place. Even after killing your benefactor and purging the casino of robots, the place is still so uninviting.

Yeah, nothing special about the ashtray either. I don't really get this creepiness factor any place in the game, actually, because many of the environments seem woefully incomplete, in part due to items getting reused like this. Very few of them make me feel anything, they don't really have any stories to tell. This is one of the things that Fallout 3 did much better.

what about vault 22? That place would've disturbed me more if I hadn't played dead space prior. Although the baby savages were kinda sad
