1. The credit check is the simplest, and one you already know about. Simply show up with 2000 caps to the Securitron Guard and select the dialog option. Important to not is that this is NOT A PAYMENT; your caps will not be taken from you for so much as a second.
2. As the tips during the loading screen tell you (assuming the correct one showed up AND you actually read it), there is a Monorail connection between the Strip and the former airport and current HQ of the NCR operation Camp McCarran. You can actually see the monorail line from outside New Vegas itself. Traversal via the monorail is only allowed for NCR troopers and "NCR VIPs", as the tip puts it. This means you will either have to:
2.1. disguise yourself as an NCR member using an NCR faction disguise to be let past the
guards,
2.2. kill the guards (which will negatively impact your reputation with the NCR if done
OUTSIDE of stealth),
2.3. sprint past the guards with no regard to your own safety (which will turn them hostile
but NOT impact NCR reputation),
2.4. attempt to sneak past them with a StealthBoy (and switch over to 2.3. in the unlikely
scenario that you end up being detected) OR
2.5. have a high enough positive reputation with the NCR to be let past the guards. This is
the "NCR VIP"-status the game speaks of. In my experience, you will require a
reputation of "Liked" or better.
3. Simply kill the Securitrons. On top of being a difficult and ammunition-intensive task, it might also come with the downside of earning yourself a bad reputation with the Strip.
4. A high Science skill of, if my memory serves me, 80 or 85 will allow you to hack the Securitron Guard and be let through.
5. New Vegas citizens are allowed to freely come and go through the front gate. To count as a citizen, you will, much like in the real world, need a passport. If you haven't heard of a way to obtain a passport legally, it's because the base game offers no such option. If you wish to choose this option without further spoilers, I recommend traversing Freeside again and watching out for businesses that have stuff they're not even allowed to sell ;-)
SPOILERS:
5.1. The business in question is Mick & Ralph's, located to your right after
entering Freeside from the East Gate. You will be able to ask Mick for "other services"
and he will tell you that he can only offer them if The King gives the okay. A high
enough Speech skill will allow you to purchase his services for 500 caps.
5.2. You can also earn The King's trust and complete the quest G.I. Blues for
the Kings. Simply walk into the King's School of Impersonation north of the Strip
main gate and ask the King for available work. Completing G.I Blues will grant you
a favour from The King, which you can use to acquire a passport. This will lock you
out of using the favour for any other purposes such as joining the Kings or resolving
the future NCR quest King's Gambit diplomatically.
Hopefully this little comment of mine will help you in your endeavors. I am obligated to pre-emptively apologise for any mistakes of the orthographical or grammatical variety I may have accidentally included in what I otherwise believe to be a rather useful, if slightly long comment.
Have a good day!
Check...also called a 'look see'.
Credit...also called 'what you bring to the table'.
Check to see if you have enough 'money' to use the 'tables'.
