Getting NV mods on Steam deck
I want to play mods on my steam deck, and have no experience working with linux or any jargon to understand half the videos on YT explaining how to do this. Can someone give me autistic detail in how to set this up as close to "plug and play" as possible without using so many complicated words/terms that I just scream in visible confusion?

Iv tried a few times over the years with windows to play mods but never could get it to work since my computers were toasters so I have like 13 years of mods to catch up on...and the gaming community is like 60% snippy a$$holes who want to mock instead of help so I kinda gave up a years ago to figure it out but want to try again.

the easiest way i can think of is seeing if nexus mods "Vortex" mod manager works in desktop mode. if it does you may be able to DL mods from there. no idea if that would be stable though as i havent done that myself
i modded the game on my PC then used a USB memory stick to copy the game to the steam deck using the steam deck dock. While its installed on your PC make sure to run Achiveinvaliation after you have installed all the modded texture files you plan to use.

I used LOOT plus the TTW load order guide to set the load order on my PC then i would copy the plugins file over to my steam deck. Good to start the game on your PC just to make sure everything is working right.

Make sure to follow VivaNewVegas thou its written for a windows operating system so keep that in mind. Stay away from the "ultra" texture packs, stick with medium size ones (2k).

Copy the plugins file from the appdata folder on your PC (its normally set to hidden, google how to change that in folder view options if you dont know how), Mine is located at -

C:\Users\Sleepytime\AppData\Local\FalloutNV

the plugin file goes into this folder on your Steam Deck, make sure all files are set to visible as its hidden by default. You do all of this in Decktop mode btw.

OhNoItsAlexx did a good guide for modding Fallout NV and Fallout 3 on Steam Deck.

Yea this is exactly what I tried last time and I got like weird error results after following the steps exactly..like I cant even get the flatpacl to work without all these errors and yes NV is not on my sd card as instructed. The problem is the github code wont work on NV without it being set to 5.0 and the flatpack wont work without it being on 8.0 and it causes incompatibility issues....I think ill have to try it your way with doing it on windows again since I am just preparing the files and not running them it should be ok I hope.

If you can't get modding to work on PC because it's too complex, you're not going to get it to work on steam deck which is the exact same but a tad more complex because the game files and paths are in different spots.

I have seriously considered paying someone to set this up for me...im not kidding lol.
Ive never run into those errors and i am far from a expert with Linux so i really cant say why are you getting those wine warnings. Maybe ask over on the Fallout NV reddit forum as you are more likely to find someone who knows the ins and outs of Linux over there.

My NV is installed on my SD card and it runs perfectly but i do not use MO2 so that might be the reason why.

I do not overwrite the FalloutNV.exe with the one from my windows install since far as i know the Steam Linux exe for NV is different from the Windows exe.
