No NPC voice sound?

When i interact with an NPC, their mouths move as if they're talking, but no sound comes out. Is there a definitive fix for this?

Yes, there is a voice volume control option.

in game? yes, i've set all audio to default. Still no sound :/

im having this same problem...ill start the game, then 5-15 minute all voices will seem to just skip playing the audio files

I just said it in Rule#2's thread but are we sure this isn't being confused with A World of Pain? AWOP does not have voiced dialogue.

Do you have surround speakers?
Your audio device might be configured to 5.1 which means New Vegas sends dialogue to the center speaker, despite it being ignored because of your headphones being plugged in.

Dude, i found that my surround sound settings were uneven, go to your headset management software, and change your settings
