Acquiring Lucky Shades
Lucky Shades were very easy to get in 3, but in New Vegas, it's a different story. You need to be liked by the Legion to get the key to the safehouse where they are. I managed to accomplish this once in a previous playthrough by repeatedly pickpocketing dogtags from drunk troopers in the strip or off of dead trooper that I came across. Oh and I also fought Benny in the arena, taught the Legion how to disarm NCR mines, and gave them the Powder Ganger schematics to construct better explosives. And even despite everything, I still sided with NCR at the end, getting rid of that positive reputation after completing enough quests for the NCR so I was able to recruit Boone and then later Arcade.

Now I've been hearing that there are mods that allow easier access to the Lucky Shades. One creates a dead gambler that has the Lucky Shades equipped on his body while replacing them in the Legion safehouse with sunglasses. Another allows you to loot the keys to the safehouses from the corpses of those who carry them. These mods would allow you to get the shades without gaining positive reputation with the Legion.

What do you think? What do you think is the best way to get the Lucky Shades without siding with the Legion endgame? How many people use a mod for easier access?

With the console.

player.additem 000CB54B 1

The 1 at then end, gives you one pair of lucky shades. 2, would give you two pairs.
I'm not that kind of player. What's the best and easiest way to get them without cheating?

Then go play on Xbox.
Using a mod for "easier access" is the same as using a console command because both methods just give the item to you in a way its not intended.

You dont ask "How do i get A Light Shining In Darkness without playing Honest Hearts"
You have to gain legion reputation to get the safe house key. Any other way is cheating.

“How to get Lucky Shades (without selling your soul) By Eboreg
In the Guides section. The only difference is that I collected 35 dog tags and did not have to do the howitzer or the Vulpes missions. Also, I was Liked and then some by the NCR before going to the Fort. And currently Liked by the Legion.

I agree with Vex Hilarius. Any other way is cheating. Why is everyone using Console commands?

Cheating is easier than reading a guide.

Not for me. I have a moral compass.

Cheating is...TGM when Overencumbered, facing Deathclaws & Cazadors.

I like to cheat a little, because you can. Most games don't offer console commands.Plus was stuck on a damn console with this game. Not recommended.

Wheres my moral compass, if I'm playing NCR & I have to kill to get that? Kinda defeats the purpose of playing NCR.

Or this.

Dressing casual on the Strip is important to my RP.
If I could put in my two cents, there is a sense of accomplishment when you accomplish something on your own without cheating. After all, cheaters never truly win!

I agree with the first part. Sorry to go off topic, but the world is governed on lies and cheating.

I failed Graphic Communications because it was basically recess. The teacher sat five feet from us, taught us nothing, and played a little game at the end of the semester.

Did you do the project?
Say Yes, Pass.
Say No, FAIL.

He knew damn well no one did the project. He also said Vietnam wasn't bad, He served in the Air Force during that conflict.

Just pickpocket NCR Dogtags from pretty much every NCR Trooper you see and it's easily done.

When the locations are already unlocked and your sneak is at least half decent, you can get the Liked-Status with the Legion within 30 minutesn:
- Primm
- Mojave Outpost
- Camp McCarran

You only lose Karma (which you will easily regain and which also doesn't matter at all) and won't gain NCR-Infamy ;)

It's done extremely easy early on tbh

Why bother? Not worth the effort, given the tri-radii-oscillator from OWB also takes up the face slot and offers 4DT and health regen. This lets you put on Boone's Cap while still having DT on the head, which is generally a better proposition.

I didn’t know you can wear the tri and the first recon beret at the same time.
