I go into M-8 and after completing the first search, student files, a new door opens, but then I am locked inside and have to quite the game to get out. I read that the key is in M-13 but have yet to find it. Also that sonic weapon to knock out force fields. I have been in every building looking for the upgrade and no luck so far. Any help would be great. Other than these I'm about done, and getting bored with the MT. Thanks Peter

Any upgrade for the Sonic Emitter should allow you to disable the force fields but to upgrade the gun you need to talk to Blind Diode Jefferson (the jukebox) after finding one of the upgrades (and obviously finding the holotape to activate the jukebox).
As for the X-8 kennel key; it should be in a suitcase to the right after entering X-13 but, as you mentioned, you need the upgraded Sonic Emitter to get into that room.

I have found that tape, I have also tried both tunes that it offers. Right now I think I have revelation in the gun, but I tried the other also?.. But thanks. I was wondering if there was something else I had to do.

As long as you upgraded the Sonic Emitter with any of the available upgrades, you should be able to disable any force field you encounter. First one you find in a regular playthrough is Gabriel's Bark I think.
Let me know if things don't work out. I only recently finished that particular DLC again so memory on that place is still fresh. :P

I jsut completed the 3 test in the M-8 building, it said something about an upgrade and having to go to the sink for it to install. (after the 3 test) No such luck. I even bought a secound sonic emiter so I could have one with each sound. Still zip. Must have done something wrong.

You should get the required upgrade from the terminal, right at the start of the second test. That upgrade allows for disabling force fields. The upgrade you found is probably Gabriel's Bark. To use it, you have to talk to the jukebox and there should be a speech option telling him you found a voice module or something along those lines. It will then intall the upgrade and you can then ask him to change the Sonic Emitter to any of the voices you found.

The upgrade for the force field disruption happens automatically and is accquired at the start of the second test.
The key for the kennels in x8 is in x13, right as you enter portected by a foce field
