Getting low intelligence dialogue
Started a new game after seeing there was a low int dialogue set for characters, but when i created a one int character, seem to be getting the same choices as anyone else. Figured that just one point in it would have had the effect, but not sure if something else messed it up. Charisma is low too, rebuilt the character to try and see if that was the problem, but didn't help.

Any ideas? No mods are running, and only the Honest Hearts DLC is active.

AFAIK low intelligence only gives you certain dialogue options. For example, go talk to Arcade in Old Mormon Fort. I know because drinking beer lowered my int to below 4.

So its not universal, just only on some people?

There is a mod that alters the vast majority of general dialogue, but on the base game there are only a few low intelligence options:

This game doesn't support the, uh *broad*, range of character archetypes that its predecessors did - there is very limited low-INT dialogue.

Which, TBH, is kinda surprising considering the rest of the game. I mean, I expected it for FO3, and Skyrim certainly isn't one to do *anything* that would prevent you from completing everything in one playthrough, but FONV is closer in spirit to FO1 & 2.

There was one that had a funny conversation with Ignacio Rivas at helios one, you could tell him "Me Shoulder!" and when he asked your intentions you could say "PIZZA!" But I think that MAY have been part of a mod.

I've seen a few of the fallout 2 low intelligence ones, it does such a good job of treating your character like the idiot they are. For example, in navarro the conversation with the gate gaurd is hilarious. You can see the conversations here.

Like everyone else said, there's only certain instances where low intelligence comes into play in conversations. Actually, I think I can just about count them on one hand, even. Still worth it for the sheer fun of creating a dumb character, but yeah, don't expect the dialogue to change too much.

Intelligent -9/100 : A ranger near Nelson called the legion "snake" instead of bull. It confused me that he not called them "bull".

For the record, I've just started a low-int character and my first dialog changes I've noted were offering to repair the radio in goodsprings (I could fix your broken stuff...) and asking old lady gibson for the rocket parts, which comes out equally garbled until you manage to get the right words out.

Also there's a very obvious example at the non-lethal end of Boulder City Showdown.

I've yet to find any low-int dialog specials.
