The NCR Mod v2.5 By Giskard: Thoughts
http://www.theengineeringguild.co.uk/node/37

I mentioned an awesome mod out for Fallout New Vegas in a thread about NCR vs. Legion. Lots of people said they would want to check it out because it seemed interesting. For those of you who are hearing about this the first time, I will tell you some features and backstory! If you have used this, go ahead and post things you liked about it!

I found this mod by pure luck. I love the NCR and I really wanted a mod where you were actually able to join the ranks. I searched for an hour on Youtube and saw gameplay for this mod called The NCR. I watched it and it was exactly what I asked for.

The NCR allows you to become an NCR Citizen and eventually join the NCR Military. You get Lieutenant Hayes to give you citizenship papers, then you must go to Camp Golf for you Supplies and Training. You can start this quest mod as soon as you start Fallout NV, basicly. You get you training and buy your supplies from the supply officer and become an NCR Trooper. From there, if you meet specific skill requirments, you can transfer to Heavy Troopers, MP, Marshels, Medic, First Recon, Rangers, Elite Rangers and more. Each division comes with its own perk, that actually gives you abilities of that division. Now you can find or Commander and he will assign missions. Each successful mission will go towards your NCR rank. You start at Private and can move all the way up to General. Your rank has it perks too, as for each rank out of 22, you get one speech point (I think) per rank, Which is realistic because if you are a General, everyone should listen to you.

Now, before you go fantisizing over how golden this sounds, this mod does have it`s quirks. For one, The voice acting is poor quality and they`re all English accents. I believe there are MAYBE 8 voice actors, so you here the same voice alot. The missions will glitch and break the questline of an entire division sometimes, to the point were you have to switch your division. With this quest, the idea is so perfect, and if Giskard had the money to do better, I honestly think this mod would go far.

The reason this mod is so unheard of is because Giskard refuses to use Nexus. I`m not sure why, but thats why nobody knows of this.

I hope you NCR Troopers will try this mod out. Honestly, this mod is great for Roleplaying right from the moment you make Primms sheriff Sergeant McGee. I really enjoy the fact the your rank matters, and that there is a hierarchy to achieve.

On the website at the top, You will also see a list at the side of mods, You might try out the Code of Steel Mod, were you join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel, although that is an early version of whats to come. I hope you all have fun and try this! :D

Honestly, I dont think this mod will have anymore work done on it, As Giskard is focusing on a mod where you are able to join BoS. You really should give it a shot, It is a ton a fun :)

I'm tempted to try it out but unsure if it will conflict with my already long list of mods. So so voice acting doesn't bother me, Alton for FO3 (and also someone has converted it to TTW) had meh voice acting but was great to explore and had a decent quest.

I imagine he doesn't use nexus as there is some sketch stuff that happens there occasionally. They can be quite quick to ban a modder and take down all their work for one wrong comment. I know this happened for a popular Skyrim modder who made great quest lines, though fortunately they are now on the Steam Workshop.

Btw I am not aware of any glitches or bugs in this mod and none have been reported to me, nor have I seen any that have not been fixed.

Oh and I recently found out Steam treat typical mod related posts as spam, they moderated me for advertising oblivion mods in the oblivion forums and listed a lot of other things that qualify as against the rules, including posting videos of mods, asking people to join teams and stuff modders do all the time. Steam is very anti modder it seems. I have removed my mods from workshop because I refuse to support a company that does not support me.

So best be careful, this is Steam they can enforce any rules they like here, even incredibly stupid ones like that.
Is this mod out? Cuz I don't find it anywhere. Only news about it.

Old thread but still loyal to the creator. Hopefully he will like to make some more great faction mod for current and future Fallout games!

Here's the link to the download for the newest version, The NCR Mod, Version 3.1

Ooh, boy. I suppose with the new Version 3 update, there is a new feature

Supposedly, at rank 5, Staff Sergeant, a new group is formed called the Viper Squad. In Forlorn Hope, a new NPC appears named Major Freedman, and he gives you access to your own squad. This squad can do any missions for you in your division, giving you command of your own unit. Outstanding.

My computer will be fixed in a few days, and I cannot wait to try this out!
