want a mod to make the weapons more like 3
Hello all,

I was wondering if there was a mod that replaced all the newer looking weapons to look and act like the weapons from 3.

The weapons like the assault carbines mainly, and their single shot vairants. I've never felt like those belonged in the world. in 3 they were all old stype, the american assault rifles, and the chinese assault rifles.

Ever heard of the Gun Runners? They build weapons like the assault and marksmans carbines from scratch using pre-war blueprints. The game is set 200 years after the bombs fell, where society has restored a great deal of infastructure, including industry. Fallout isn't post apocalypic, rather post-post-apocalyptic. If anything, Fallout 3 was the aberration, not New Vegas.

In regard to such a mod, I have no idea. Nexus has a keyword search feature. I'd look there.

The entire society was stuck in the 50's and 60's era. the clothes, cars, posters, and anything else you can find stull up and running looks and feels like the 1950's and 60's. So in 3, they took great pains to make sure all the weapons looked and felt that way as well.

In NV, they added the carbines, which are cool don't get me wrong, but are more 90's esqe. While the rest of the world is more 50's and 60's esqe. Thats why I feel they don't fit. They seem too advanced for the rest of the world.

Thats why I wanted a mod to replace the carbines model with that of the american assault rifles and the chinese assault rifles.

Gun designs of that type were present in Fallout 2 as well. In a setting with powered armor, energy weapons, orbital strikes and whatnot they really aren't out of place at all.

For getting rid of the service rifle and assault carbine, im not sure, but there is a mod called project nevada which adds a bunch of the fallout 3 weapons (as well as a bunch af new ones as well) and generally makes the game more fun.

oh awesome, thanks for that mod info!

Oh two bears, I went ahead and looked at the fallout 2 wiki really quick. I didn't see anything about the assault carbine, or anything that looked like it. But I only had time to glance at it. Did I miss it? If so, could you post a link to it?

Well there's desert eagles in Fallout 2 and 1 so they don't stand out that much

Honestly, i'm not sure why they're not in the game already. I can see a desert eagle fitting in rather nicely with this world. All scratched and dented to hell, but still fully functional.

I think he meant that the older Fallout games have weapons of "modern" design (which is very true), not specifically that weapon.

Fallout 2 had P90s, G11s, a Caws shotgun, and various bullpup weapons.

It's also worth mentioning that the "Service Rifle" in NV is (near as I can tell) an M16, which was designed in the 50s and first went into service in the early 60s, so right in the time period you claim the series is supposedly all about.

It`s an Israeli gun. Nope, nope and nope again on it fitting in.

So I'm guessing it didn't fit in Fallout 1 and 2.

You know, I think the thing that bothers me the most is the fact that its so small and compact. If it was more bulky I'd be more ok with it.

Yup.

I totally get where you're coming from. However don't really know any good mods that fix it. My solution is adding lots of other weaponmods so they become more rare. The biggest reason I think they feel out of place is the rails on them. Their overal design isn't really that modern. Hell the sovjets experimented with bull-pup design in the '60's.
You could mod that the service rifle swaps models with the survivalist rifle from Honest Hearts. Also use DLC Weapon Integration if you have the DLC. It adds the BAR, Thompson SMG, Colt .45 etc to the regular wasteland.
Some mods that I like that feature some 'older' looking guns:
- Camon Pack Complete, some good WW2 era weaponry, sadly lacks good levellist integration.
- Couriers Weapons, Scout SMG might be a good replacer for the carbine. Sadly not in levellists but scattered through the world.
- Forge Beyond, adds a G11, nuff said :P
- Gyrojet by Millenia, Gyrojet 9mm using pistol. Decently 60's with the gyrojet stuff. Millenia made some decent guns all round that might fit the estheatic you want.
- NCR Trooper Overhaul Distributed, no guns but does enhances the look of the NCR, give it a look.
- Ruger Mini-14, decent sidegrade for the Varmint Rifle.
- Scottmacks Forgotten Weapons, only for sale, no levellists. Several WW2 era guns.

Close...it's apparently an AR-15, which is a semi-auto version of the M16. :P

Either way, it was designed in the 50s.

But the m16 was semi-auto as well, at least through a select-fire, which since vanilla NV doesn't have any select fire mechanics, it can be assumed the "Service Rifles" whichever they really are, are s-a for balance reasons.

NV's "Marksman Carbine," which is also semi-auto looks a lot more like a typical Ar-15 than the Service Rifle as well.
