a way to repair your own armor?
for some reason it costs up to 7000 caps just to repair my crappy armor and its only 50% degrades. is there a cheaper repair man or way to repair my own armor? 7000 is rediculous

yep. just find some more and merge them. you bring them up in the pipboy and hit "r" while the mouse is hovering over them. the better your repair skill, the higher percentage you can repair to.

Letting someone repair stuff is incredibly expensive. Find armor of the same category. Metal Armor needs other heavy armor for example, so that's Metal Armor, Metal Armor Reinforced and NCR Salvaged Power Armor.

And, of course, Jury Rigging perk lets you widen the scope of available repairs. IIRC any armor can repair any other of the same basic weight class, so you could do stuff like use clothes to patch up leather armor, or NCR or legion basic troop armor to repair your Combat Armor.

Check the repair skill of whoever you're asking to repair it then find someone with a lower skill, they won't do as much but it won't cost as much either.

Also a tip for getting a lot of caps: Pick up all the weapons you find, if you have jury rigging use cheap ones like pool cues and 9mm pistols to repair more expensive ones, if not just use few weapon repair kits. It's not unusual to find several 10mm pistols that are almost broken and worth like 50 caps that would make one pistol still only worth 100 caps if you combine them, but if you instead use 2-4 repair kits for each(remember you need to be holding the weapon, also check how much it is fixed after each use so you won't waste any) you can raise their value to hundreds of caps. WRK's are cheap and you can find scrap, duct tape and wrenches to make them easily.

Remember to carry skill magazines and one of the outfits that increaces your Repair and use them before starting your work, also remember to pick up all the stuff you have stashed and check both everything you can repair and what new stuff you can make on a workbench, reloading bench or a campfire while your skill is maxed.

Oh, and after fixing your gear and storing all the extra stuff in your house, remember to put your armor back on. It's embarrassing to die because you forgot you were still wearing the Speech/Barter boosting outfit instead of combat armor...:zombiehead:

For leather armor buy a bunch of suits cheap; then merge them to produce one decent set.

Go to the item inventory and put your curson on a weapon or armor, on the upper right you'll see (R)epair-command that is bright if you can repair the item and dark if you can't, meaning your Repair skill is too low or you don't have anything to repair it with. Jury Rigging perk helps because you can use more items to fix other items, like cheap 9mm's for expensive 10mm and 12.7mm pistols, but you still can't fix a rifle with a pistol or a laser with an assault rifle.

To use Weapon Repair Kits equip a weapon you want to repair, switch to Aid-list and click on WRK and it will repair some percentage depending on your skill. Note you can't equip weapons that are completely broken, meaning their name is darkened.

wierd. either you're doing something wrong or have a game-breaking bug. is it not working with weapons as well?

You don't have the requirement for the perk yet
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Jury_Rigging
You need 90 repair before you can take it and be lvl 14

he's not trying to use the jury rigging perk. (using barely related items) he just wants to fix a weapon or armor using the "same" type of weapons and armor and it's not even letting him do that.
