Question about NVSE
So I've been modding NV up and just recently discovered that for mods such as Nevada skies and such I need to have NVSE installed, well I downloaded it, followed the instuctions and took the Dll files and EXE file, copied them and pasted them in the steamapps/common/new vegas folder but my game doesn't find it. I've tried this twice but nothing happens. am I doing something wrong?

I think you need to launch it once from that location. Right click and run as administrator.

Ok, tried that and it keeps crashing the game, the first time it crashed before I could get into the game, the second time when it loaded into the game it crashed...

How are you managing your load order? Have you got BOSS?

I have the Nexus mod manager... didn't know you had to use a specific order...
and I dont' have BOSS

Load order with mods gets to be very important when you add a bunch of them. Also as a side note you need to close the NMM before you run BOSS or it will not change the load order.

If your game starts, hit the tilde key. Type GetNVSEVersion hit enter. Mine says:
NVSE Version: 4 , that's it that's all you need to verify that its working.I'm using the nvse_4_2_beta2.7. The files I installed were:
nvse_1_4.dll
nvse_1_4ng.dll
nvse_editor_1_4.dll
nvse_loader.exe
nvse_steam_loader.dll
You don't need anything out of the src folder. Those files are more for mod makers rather than mod users. Create a shortcut to your desktop with the nvse_loader.exe and change the icon to something more fallout friendly, then run your game from that executable rather than the default one. Hope that helps.

using nvse wouldnt be crashing your game honestly its too simple to mess up installing its most likely a mod you have/compatability with a mod or as others said load order BOSS is a common automated load order program its on the nexus sites in utility i believe for all elder scroll and fallout games BOSS is an all in one program also so you only need to download one and do a manual install not a nmm download hope i helped i recently modded my new vegas pretty heavily also give the fallout new vegas 4gb patch it helps crashes alot ive not has a single crash since i started using it

So I downloaded BOSS and it didn't seem to help, I downloaded it and ran it than nothing seemed to change.

you have to start the game with the regular launcher one time after you install nvse , then nvse will recognie the launcher and work , from then on use the nvse_loader.exe to launch the game

with the regular launcher? from NVMM? or the steam? or the exe file? lol sorry really confused :/
pike Jan 24, 2014 @ 12:37pm
from steam , hit the play button ,let the game start up you can exit after the options screen ,then nvse will see the FalloutNVLauncher.exe and be able to work , nvse should then be run as admin .should work fine , gopher has a vid on how to install it that explains everything in great detail

here watch this
