While we're on the subject, may as well tell you shouldn't drink alchohol to help when you're freezing either.

It only quenches the feeling of thirst for a limited time. You may feel hydrated however your body indeed is being drained of even more fluids as you consume carbonated drinks in a state of dehydration.

Repharasing Ben Yahtzee Crowshaw's video

It's the caffine and sugar, they absorb the water in your body and in turn make you more thirsty.

It will quench your thirst for a while, but you'll feel thirsty again. Because Soda is still made out of water(thankfully not pure corn syrup)

It's why I always drink water right after drinking soda. It's also to counter balance the sugar intake(though I don't know how effective that actually is, just my nutrition teacher told me).

or while your hungry, a bottle of beer also equivalates to one bowl of white rice(which is a lot of carbs).

This game takes place in an era that's similar to the 1950's, in the 50's safety regulations were minimal to non-existant, now soda still will dehydrate you due to it's high sodium content, and seeming as there's a drink that is irradiated in this game I think it's safe to say that makes sense.

not true dudette.

althought apparently any water with carbonated concentration greater than 2.5% in volume often causes tummy cramps due to the CO2 dropping out of the previously ingested solution inside your tummy.

here, a free study.

oh an how about evaporated still water? why are you still thirsty after drinking that?

No, they don't. It's an urban legend.

For this here videogame, it makes perfect sense. There's lots of soda everywhere, but water is a special item, with a high price tag.

Or free, if you drink it out of a clean toilet. Free-r if you can counteract the rads from a non-clean one.

Toilets, streams, springs, and other sources of water are kinda not all that portable. So purely gaming sense wise, it's okay that soda dehydrates you. There's lots of food that hydrates you, however, like the already super strong gecko kebab.

Good source of HP, good for starvation, and treats thirst. 0.25 pounds each.
