Good vs Bad Karma
is it not more rewarding to be a good character? I have never seen the benefits of being evil

Karma is largely irrelevant in New Vegas. Some NPCs, like Cass, will deal with an evil karma Courier differently but faction reputation is the more important mechanic.

Karma is nearly totally irrelevant in New Vegas, a mere relic from Fallout 3.

Pay no attention to it and focus on your reputation instead.

any big situations such as followers or quests requiring certain karma? I know it mattered more in Fallout 3 but in vegas I get the top good karma without even really trying

The only instance I know of is as Two Bears mentioned with Cass. IIRC it also slightly affects the ending slides. That's it, really. They wanted a more meaningful system and reputation is that.

what happens with Cass?

At level 50 you can pick a perk and depending on your karma you will get serten benifits. There is a good, neutral and evil version. I am a big fan of the evil one due to the faster AP regen, wich I like to abuse.

Other then that I would say you can pretty much ignore your karma status.

She will reject you if your karma is too low.

1. Depends on what you mean by 'rewarding'. In actuality, the difference in rewards for following a saint's path compared to the devil's is marginal when you take into consideration that you'll be swimming in guns, ammo, food, and chems no matter what you do.

2. Ignore karma in this game. It means nothing. There are only a couple of places where it has a marginal effect - and those are leftovers that were not scrubbed from FNV. In FNV they deliberately dropped the Karma system (but couldn't completely deactivate it so you still gain good/bad karma) but cut out its effects. What matters is faction reputation.

evil karma = do all the quests with little hassle, steal what you want, kill who you want, no tippy toeing around quests trying to be good, faster leveling because your killing anything you want, more loot because your stealing everything, no brainer.

If you run into a situation you need non-evil karma, takes a little while going out and killing ghouls, etc that raise up karma fast.

It's most notable effects are ending slides and the lvl 50 perks.

Play as you want, the moral choices in FNV are a lot more varied usually than straight up good-bad.

You need bad karma to recruit Boone, but aside from that there's nothing else that's useful that comes from karma.

So in short, yes. If you're more akin to companions, then bad karma is generally better.

No you don't. The only case where karma factors in with companions is with Cass.

Oh you're right. I thought that was the case

like many said before it doesn't really matter in NV. just a personal feeling like: I'm such a good guy, or i'm such a badass. but either good or bad, you're a mass murderer in any case xD
