The Desert Rangers were a paramilitary group of vigilantes that did the same sort of thing in the unincorporated areas to the east and northeast of NCR territory. Tycho was one of them. They were absorbed into the NCR when the NCR came to the Mojave.
Desert rangers are the remnants of the Texas rangers, Nevada rangers, and so on. To even qualify for veteran ranger position, you must have served with distinction for at least 20 years. These are the guys with the redwood revolvers and riot gear/longcoats.
The desert rangers were absorbed by NCR on the condition that NCR sees to their interests in the Mojave, primarily Hoover dam.
ahhh thanks for that, so they are kind of the same way caesar merged his tribes into one (but not by force lol) and they are a hell of a lot more equipped and experienced.
oh thanks a lot for clearing that up for me, 20 years is a damn long time, remind me not to screw with them.
I always thought the Statues were not only a symbol of unity between the NCR and Desert Rangers, but also a symbol of NCR conquest and victory.
If the Desert Rangers chose not to be absorbed they'd have gotten no help and maybe had a new enemy.
or maybe i played this game too much ha h
