Seriously Bad Audio Stuttering
I just bought the game yesterday, and booted it up for the first time today. However, the main menu and everything past the intro cutscene has an audio stuttering problem to the point where it's unplayable. Does anyone have a solution? I've tried changing the BMultiThreadAudio file and turning on and off my headphones, but that's about all I've tried. There's a supposed Spotify solution but I don't own spotify, so I haven't tried that. I use Bluetooth earbuds.

have you tried increasing your iAudioCacheSize in the ini? I had the same problem until I went from 2048 to 4096 and now there's zero stuttering!

Just tried that, and it didn't seem to fix anything. Any other ideas? Thanks for the suggestion either way.

Hmmmm....I guess first step make sure your sound sampling rate is set to 48kHz.

After that, probably hit either woomzy's guide on Steam or the Viva New Vegas guide and install the baseline stability mods - they fix a lot of weird base game issues like that.

It actually resets the iAudioCacheSize every time I boot up the game. Do you ppl know a fix? Also, how do I set the sampling rate? Sorry to bother you again.

I'm having the same issue here! I'm not sure what to do. Super novice when it comes to gaming laptops. Just hoping to fix the audio stutter.

I found a solution, hope this helps.

1. Open the file Fallout.ini comes in

2. Right click Fallout.ini and select properties

3. Uncheck read only and set for all files in folder (for me it was the only option)

4. Open Fallout.ini and select edit --> find --> IAudioCache Size

5. set IAudioCacheSize's value to 8192

6. Save Fallout.ini and boot up New Vegas.

This ended up working for me yesterday.

Do i edit it in notepad? When i save it says it's read only.

I think I did it correctly but it seems to still be stuttering. I appreciate the help though!

Did you right click the file before opening it, and then turning off read only?

Fallout.ini is overwritten by Fallout_default.ini at startup, the simplest solution is to edit both Fallout_default.ini and Fallout.ini, technically you can just apply the changes to Fallout_default and it'll pass them to Fallout.ini, but I edit both just for safety

Is how one can fix the New Vegas audio stutter issue. however, the way to proceed is a little bit wrong. First thing you oughta do before making both Fallout.ini files Read-Only is to change the audiochachesize's value to the one brought here by the user above (i.e.:8192) on both filles. Doing this before Read-Only will allow you to save the correction brought to the files as placing them on read-only will not let you re-write the files. only once the files have been corrected you can place them in Read-Only.

I suggest raising attention to this thread and post so that it comes up in the google search algorithm so future players will find this information more easily,
For those of us using a mod loader/organizer of some sort, you can access the .ini files by requesting you application to "Open Game Settings Folder". I use Vortex (Works on my Machine(tm)). and followed and adjusted the method and am now enjoying amazing breadth of song in the Radio New Vegas and Mojave Music Radio and the fallout OST with no stutter of any kind at all.
