Robots Are Weak!
I really think that robots should be sturdier than they currently are due to them being way to easy to kill. Using emp effect weapons are pretty pointless due to them being able to be easily be taken down by any weapon such as 9mm pistols and laser pistols (exceptions would have to be sentry bots and the sentry turrets in the brotherhood of steel bunker in hidden valley).

well most foes in the game are pretty weak once you develop yourself decently. So just like everything else, basic robots are yes weak, and only the stronger types pose any difficulty (sentry bots, etc). just like with super mutants regular ones are weak, regular ghouls are weak, regular radscorpions are weak, etc.

If you find foes weak, bump up the game difficulty so you have more fun. Head shooting everything with 1 shot doesn't make for a fun game.

I always played very hard ever since playing the game through once and they still are rather too easy. I had to get project nevada and increase spawn rates to make it any type of challenge.
Wait until you get the pulse gun! Instantly kills all power armour and robots.

I have gotten the pulse gun before and decided to never use it ever again since it defeats all robots in less than 3 hits except the ones from OWB who have some resistance to the damage of emp weapons.

yea i personally wish they had bumped up robot foes like fallout 3 broken steel did with overlords, ghoul reavers, albino rads, etc. They sadly didn't bump up robots, leaving the sentry bot as probably number 1 hardest. They really needed a hard robot foe, build along the lines of a tank or something, improved sentry tank, death bot, something.

I truly agree with you on this robots felt like hitting an aluminum foil sheet in NV while in Fallout 3 hitting a robot felt like hitting a solid wall.

this is true. I'm not too far into NV, but my first robot kills seemed way easier than in 3.

Of course they're easy kills. How long have these things been putting around the wastes? It's a stretch that they're even operational.

well there are people with the brains to build and update robots, including mr house, and other smart residents of the wasteland (including yourself) so yes, maybe OLD robots would be a stretch to keep working, but plenty of people would be repairing, upgrading, and building new robots in the wastelands. If the commonwealth can build androids, they can sure build a better sentry bot, or battle tank. If the Enclave can keep current war tech working and vertibirds flying and power armor upgrading, they can build and upgrade warbots.

The vast majority of robots encountered by the lone wandering courier are not maintained by anyone. If still functional, it wouldn't take much more than a hearty projected sneeze to neutralize them.

What about the ones on the strip they can be upgraded and are still rather weak to the Courier and his companions.

Speaking of robots, I'm replaying old world blues at level 30 something, and the robots are legion, hard as adamantium, and sturdier than dwarf ironbreakers.

that one seems less like a lore thing and more a game balance thing. if securitrons were indestructable death machines killing mr house would be extremly difficult locking you out of roughly half the games endings until you find an easier way to kill them.
