there is a program that if you google it will help by default because windows is owned by microsoft and playstation is owned by sony ps4 controllers aren't compatible with pcs. in fact the only way to use one iirc is to trick the computer into thinking a ps4 controller is an xbox 360 controller.

Eh, WRONG.

Several games feature native support for the DS4, it has nothing to do with MSFT or Sony.

what is DS4? all i know is by default windows doesn't support ps4 controllers. as in last i checked it literally will not with its default drivers recognize a ps4 controller.

Edit: what was wrong in my original post? just googled ds4 and it says on the front page of the website it emulates an xbox 360 controller.

actually it does you see microsoft made it so first party xbox controllers could be recognized by windows (third party controllers like afterglow controllers need to be manually set to use controller drivers or they wont function). microsoft did not make it so windows can recognize ps4 controllers (doesnt matter if its dualshock 4 third party or whatever) so it does have something to do with them. they know ps4 controllers can connect via usb but they either dont care or dont want windows users using them so they have not made drivers for it (either that or sony is stopping them which considering it might boost controller sales i doubt).

it's actually waaay easier than all these replies up there say:
- connect your ps4 controller to your pc (i use usb cord)
- open steam
- open fallout new vegas page in your library
- click settings icon, click "properties"
- in the pop-up window, choose "controller"
- there is a drop-down menu in which you can choose to activate "steam input", steam will then show your ps4 controller as active/activated for this game
- start fallout new vegas, boom you're playing it with your ps4 controller :D

worked for me, didn't need any emulator or else.. the only thing that's a tiny bit tricky is learning the xbox button names for your ps4 controller (a is cross, b is circle, etc.), but you'll get the hang of it soon!
