Is nexus safe?
I'm new to modding and want to know if the site is legit, or if everything is a virus.

It's totally legit.

it is pretty much THE site for FO mods.

thanks fellas.

Well, it's the site for most games mods now. The Skyrim Nexus is waaaaaaay better than the Workshop.

The Nexus has a zero tolerance policy on illegal content and it's a great community. Just make sure you're nice to the modders and actually read the descriptions for the mods before asking a question that has already been answered. ;)

DON'T USE THE NEXUS. It is infested with viruses. It gave my computer the Forced Evolutionary Virus and it can do the same to yours. Turn back now.

I would not be surprised if Bethesda wrote the Nexus having the FEV into the Fallout 4.

But the master commands it.

What shall it be? Do you join the Unity or die here? Join! Die! Join! Die!

It's not completely safe as it is possible for a download to contain a virus, as is what happened a few weeks ago when a compromised staff account started replacing popular mods with fake updates. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/news/12350/?

As always take the usual precautions and be wary of any newly added or updated mods that contain executable files and you'll be fine.
Typically though, most mods are just esp files and are perfectly safe.

Content ripped from other games without proper authorization.

As much as Nexus is "legit" and makes a hugh effort it has been hacked. They openly admit this. Scan everything you download and after unpacking/installing do a complete scan of all your drives to be safe. If your gonna worry then just close the door on your bunker. Even Target and the Enclave get hacked. Hell, Steam got hacked
