Navigation help
Hi people, jus downloaded the game and all the DLCs. I find it hard to get around in the game. Its like you have to open Pipboy to know exactly where you are heading. Its kinda annoying, Is there a way to bring a map up on the HUD?

You use the pipboy map plus the directional arrow in the bottom left of your screen to direct you to the quest you are now on. Once you have multiple quests you can open the pipboy, go to data then quests and pick which quest you want to do first. When not doing a quest, Explore.

arrow points in quest direction, usually. sometimes it doesn't but mostly it does. red blips are bad guys, yellowish blips are friendlies.

thanks again, but can you please be more specific? what arrows and blips do you mean?

fallout is not the game for you

Assuming you know how to read a compass, the quest arrows appear *under* your compass, living beings - friendly or hostile - appear above.

If not, well I have to agree with FakeFortune and Fallout really is not the game for you.

wtf, are we playing the same game? my explanation may not be perfect but after playing 1400 hours, i think fallout is the game for me. in all honesty it's been a while so i may have not been exactly correct but close enough to help this person . good that the fallout forum police are out in force today. i feel so much more secure knowing every small discrepancy will recieve immediate attention.

I don't believe it was meant to be directed at you, but the OP.

either way, pretty dickish to state who a game is for and who it's not based on compass reading or simple questions from new players. pretty pointless to post comments like that

To be fair, being able to read the compass and follow the arrow markers is a pretty huge part of quests and game in general. I think there are even tutorial pop-ups for a lot of it at the start of the game. Not being able to understand the games navigation system will lead to a lot of frustration.

definatley simple stuff, no argument there but people are different and if a little simple advice can help someone enjoy their game then why not help instead of making pointless comments.. not everyone has a lot of time for games. i think the forum police were commenting on my not exactly perfect explanation of how the compass works anyway.funny how i found my way around with such a lack of compass excellence.

Eh, that's forums for you. We're all guilty of it at some point though. I still believe that Fakefortune's comment was directed Blueice and not you, though. Given you made an explanation it's clear you know what you're doing.

OP, if you're still having any trouble I found this 4 step guide that may be of use to helping you understand a bit better:

In my opinion it's just a matter of habit, after a while it won't be difficult for you to find your way around. Perhaps with this mod the map will be a little easier to decipher

The interior maps, in fact, are rather poorly made and difficult to understand the first time you see them. Here too it is a matter of habit

Fallout is not a difficult game, even initially it can give this impression. I am a very bad RPG game player and at first I couldn't get out within two meters of Goodsprings without getting killed. Just proceed calmly, no one forces you to finish the main quest and all the DLCs in forty minutes. Do you allow a tip? Always avoid head-to-head and short-range confrontations at first and try to make as many friends as possible in the game, no matter if those you are dealing with are from opposing factions. Double-crossing is a great solution. Going forward you will choose who you want to be with
