What game does Tale of two wastelands start from?
How dos the tale of two wastelands work? I'm guessing yo ustart as the lone wanderer and after the events of F3 travel to the mojave and become the courior, or when you visit the train station it switches between two different characters lives but keep the same equipment?

Aye, you start in the DC wasteland in Vault 101, as if you were starting a new game in Fallout 3. You can then take a train to the Mojave.

There is submod that starts you in DC and gives you a little note, but I'm not sure how buggy it is:

When you take the train to the mohavie does it then cut to you getting shot in the head or does that part of the story arc get left behind? do you still meet with doc and haveto go through that part or?

Also which game are you running? Does it addd the dc wasteland to NV or does it add the mohavie to F3?

Taking the train shows a a screen that says several years have past, then New Vegas starts proper. You get the intro cutscene and wake up in Doc Mitchells house. The main difference is it skips all the character stats stuff as you already did it in Vault 101, then you can do play New Vegas.

It runs on the New Vegas engine and Fallout 3 is added to New Vegas, basically like a big expansion pack.

Also note that pretty much every mod ever for new Vegas works for TTW as well, and there are even a huge amount of mods converted from Fallout 3 to work in TTW.

Thanks for the answers mate, only a few questions left if you feel like being awesome :)

Does the content in vegas that fallout 3 didin't have stay in vegas? Or could I find weapon mods in fallout 3 as well?

Do I have access to fallout 3 perks or is all vegas perks?

DO talon mercs and regulators show up in fallout 3? or even vegas? that coem after you depending on karma.

Do F3 bobbleheads still give bonuses?

Do fallout 3 factions get actual faction relations? i.e if I become allied with brotherhood in F3 will they still like me in FNV?

Thanks for all the help thus far btw :)

Guns items etc can be taken with you to and from both areas freely. Hell, you can take companions with you. I did the main FO3 quest with Cass and EDE in tow.

The perks are mashed into one big list for when you level, so the extra Fallout 3 perks I guess you could say are added to New Vegas.

The Talon Mercs and Regulators show up only in the Fallout 3 World

I'm honestly not sure, I imagine they still do.

Nah, they don't at the moment. I think they intend to add FO3 faction relations at a later stage, it's still a beta at the moment and basically a complete port of FO3. This means extra NV features like ADS, cooking, crafting, workshops, reloading benches and the companion wheel are added in. They added in workbenches and stuff in a few areas so you can do the new NV things in DC.

In their FAQ I suggest you look at the different methods of altering levelling up, as you ca imagine with two huge games in one you reach the level 50 cap quickly. Personally I'm using mods that let me increase skills past 100 and level up to level 256, as well as get a perk every level.

Have fun! Did you check out the forums for the texture pack? Just placing old fallout 3 mods into the NV folder doesn't work, they need to be converted. Though I think that texture pack has a way to do it on their forum.

was just reading that now, a step by step guide about moving around the textures and meshes and combining them into 1 big file

Yep, you're on the right path :)

I would suggest checking out their forum for TTW specific mods. There are some good ones lon there, like adding DC locations to the MT Teleporter, and being able to repair a vertiberd and sue that to travel between the two maps.

Ok I've downloaded TTW and it started in New Vegas even though when I ran from the mod it did the TTW intro and went into F3 then NV and then I woke up as the courier. What have I missed?
