Advice on getting to the Boomers alive? (I'm new)

(SPOILERS) I'm in my first playthrough of New Vegas and I am trying to talk to the boomers for Yesman. Please don't post spoilers. I need help with getting into their territory without being blown to bits. I can't go through the tunnel because my lock picking skill is low.

Even through the tunnel you will have to deal with the bombs. The easier way is to search it on youtube and see someone doing it since it's hard to explain the exact spot you need to go, it's easier if you see someone doing it. There's some safe spots along the way, where you need to take cover and wait the bombardment to stop, then you go to the next spot and so on.

IMO this part of the game was terrible. You would expect that a 100 lockpick level tunnel would lead you through a safe backdoor, but nope, a even more confusing place where you need to do pretty much the same thing (hide and wait). The ingame descryption of how to do it is equally confusing. Normally I enjoy trying to solve things myself but this one I didn't think twice: youtube on that b*tch.

LOL, this is going to sound a little strange, but heck it works. Go up the railroad tracks, not the road. As you approach the bombed out buildings stay to the left side of them. As you hear the boomers launching missiles zig zag as you are running through the left side of the buildings and get to the fence. Once you make it to the fence the missiles stop and you can walk to the gate to talk to the Boomers to have them let you in. Listen to the sound of the missiles approaching and as it gets closer slightly change the direction you're running and it won't make a direct hit on you, so you take minimal damage. Also, there is a small lag time between each missile being fired. If you time it just right, they will only get three or four missiles fired before you make it to the fence and safty.

If you really can't do it (like me) i'll tell you what i did.
1. unplug your controller (if you used one)
2. press backlit key
3. type tgm and tcl
4. run towards them
5. repeat step 2. and 3.
6.sorted

Thats the cheaters algorithm enjoy :P

As for me, I went to the crater to my left. Went there and then crouched. Applied stimpaks. After the bombardment stopped, run like hell, always close to left hand side hill. I wore reinforced leather armor.

Okay I'm making a go at it I'll try the running and zigzaging to the left method first and if all else fails youtube.

If you pay George the 400 caps and wager him, he gives you a legit and clear(somewhat) way of passing by. He will actually pay you back in full plus the amount you win. Anyway, the note says to basicly...

1. Go through the rubble houses, you can zig zag the alleyways between houses to confuse the rocket
2. Make a bee line to the fence. Now to do this perfectly, there is a house behind the row closest to the fence, so 2 rows of houses back, closer to the middle of the houses. Crouch inside the rubble and listen for the next shot.
3. When you hear BAM, Run straight for the fence like you are invisible. I mean it. When it hits, they need to reload, and once you get close to the fence, they will not fire and risk Friendly Fire.
4. You can non-chalently walk to their gates while laughing about their horrible aim

As you can see OP, there are many different ways to get through this challenge. The fact of the matter is that it is ridiculously easy once you've figured out how it works.

Posting a thread asking for advice with no spoilers is kind of pointless. We can't tell you how to do it without spoiling something. You either figure it out on your own or you ask for help.

What you need to know is that they launch their attacks in waves. First you hear the whistling of the munitions coming your way, then there is a barrage of explosions followed by a few moments of silence. Then the whistling starts again, etc.

If you save your game just prior to entering the bombed out town, it shouldn't take you very long to figure it out as long as you understand the importance of running and taking shelter from the bombs that are falling all around you. Cars do not provide good cover, for example.

Run, hide, run, hide, run. That's how you do it. If that is too hard, take advantage of the exploit and run to the left by the fence, as others have explained above.
