Playable Without Mods?
So I've been bored recently and have been wanting to get perfect achievements on as many games as I can, I am missing a handful of achievements on this game, but it seems absolutely unplayable without mods. The game runs at 90-120 FPS but seems to have microstuttering, even with Vsync on both on the GPU Control Panel and in game (and ipresentinterval=1 on the .ini's), the game for some reason still runs past 60 FPS, which as we all know has a negative effect on the game since its tied to the engine speed. I remember always having to go into the .ini files to uncap the FPS, and just install a mod to fix the game speed. Now I can't get it to cap at 60 FPS.

Anyone here still play this mess without mods and has a smooth 60 FPS on modern systems?

You have to lock the fps to 60 in your graphics control panel. There should be a setting called "max fps" or something.

The NVTF mod makes it so you can play the game past 60 fps without issues.

The Vsync option in your control panel locks your fps to the refresh rate of your monitor. You have to set "Max Frame Rate" to 60 fps.

No it's not even playable WITH mods I cannot imagine it without mods.

Ah ok I'll try that next, forgot about that. Thanks guys. What about the stuttering?

I'm...not sure you can do much about the stuttering, the one thing I can suggest, IF you have NVIDIA card, is to couple DXVK with Special K. I know you don't wanna play with mods, but if you can give it a second to at least do something basic like installing two DLLs to see if things get better.

But really, if you change your mind about modding, and don't care about any modifications, just fixes, you can just...follow the viva new vegas guide and ignore everything else that seems extra. I just saw that Viva New Vegas JUST NOW changed things up to separate the fixes/performance improvements from the extra.
I do at minimum recommend NVHR and NVTF however, I'm pretty sure those don't require you to dabble with Mod Organizer or anything like that..(And patching the .exe with the 4GB patcher)

I'll check it out, thanks! Only reason I'm playing without mods is to finish the rest of the achievements, I know pretty much any game on steam disables achievements when you start modding.
this game is playable unmodded for the most part but playing without unofficial patches can result in multiple broken quests and hours spent contemplating whether you should end your life or not

Lol yeah I know 3/NV/Oblivion and Morrowind can be absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ without modding. Morrowind actually not as much

Luckily the only achievements I need are playing through main story on Hardcore, and 10k Dmg with Energy, Unarmed, Explosives and stuff like that.
