Character Expansion Revised is a lightweight mod that aims to fix/make default look a bit more pleasing without loosing the vanilla feel. I use it and I think it's way better than FCO: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/64862?tab=description
An older version of Character Expansion Revised is called NVCE (not NVEC) and it's good too but does a few other things other than face changes: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39325/
New Vegas Redesigned is another option but it's more of a resource now and changes more than just faces. I don't think the mod developer is gonna finish it: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/56312/
