Playing New Vegas with X-Box controller

I am playing New Vegas with X-Box controller, works very good, BUT i can not use the console command. When i tab the ` button, notthing happens.
I have t disable my x-box controller to use the console command for taking screenshots.

Anyone has an idea how to fix this?

Dont use an X-Box controller, when playing a game like fallout. makes using a controller even harder?

I use both, but only in certain situations. I use M+K If I'm actually playing the game, and can use a wired Xbox One or 360 wireless controller, I just hot plug/unplug when I want...

Learn M+K for this game. Hot keys let you swap ammo, take screenshots, use the console and edit stuff, on top of being able to aim way better than using a controller. Trust me I didn't grow up on M+K and mostly used a controller, and still use them for most FPS games... but this game I've almost dictched using a controller completely. So much better. If I feel tired and want to kick back I pop the controller in.

Plus if you've ever wanted to get good with a M+K for other games without getting totally raped first, these kind of games are what you practice on, then it'll put you on another level in other games when you get the hang of it. Way more accurate and easier to control.

true that, LOL i am going to think it over not using my xbox controller for fallout anymore :) but still i hope i get an answer about my question :) thnx anyway for your opinion and facts

Yeah I agree, I've beaten and played them over with controllers and also have them on ps3, wasnt til recently that I still avoided switching to M+K, mainly because just like you said, you couldn't access console unless you unplug it. Been playing with it so much I eventually left it unplugged because it was a hassle lol now I hardly ever use a controller. Just my personal opinion

No way around accessing console with a controller period if you're wondering, that game switches input to one or the other. Hotplugging or unplugging the controller is the only option

Just disable and renable the controller in the menu if you need to use ~.

and for that i salute you :) i like to hear opinions from others, i am playing this game now for 4 hours, i have it in my library since 6 months??? I like the game, but havn't it played long enough to give a good opinion about it. So your opinion, i really appreciate it :)

yeah, same engine. idk. but 4hours, you better get a move on, lol you've got another 80+ hours on the first play thru, not even including dlc. Had new vegas on ps3, didnt have enough patience, then 3 years later I buy it for 4 bucks and now I cant stop playing it haha

Only solution that I know off but I've never bothered to look into it.
Its not particulary difficult or time consuming, you are already trying to use the keyboard to access the console anyway.

PS3 version is / was one of the buggiest games I ever played.
