Gain Karma by murdering random ppl?!
I walked into the motel in Novac, blew off Jeannie's head with a plasma rifle and gained Karma. It turned my from evil to neutral... WTF?!

Karma is largely meaningless, anyway. If you kill evil people (the hotel owner in novac, Pacer, the fiend leaders, the white glove society leaders, etc) you'll gain karma with each kill.

If you investigate around Novac, you will find out why you gain karma from killing her.

thats not how you do spoiler tags.

yeah if you want karma for some reason fiends, powder gangers and feral ghouls give it for killing them.

makes it rather easy to be 1000 good karma even if you kill everyone in every town.

Everyone is evil in this game and unless you murder factionless Very good people you dont lose Karma.

Because its a left over mechanic from FO3 where the God of the Capital Wasteland knew who was Good and who was Evil and rewarded/punished you appropriately.

I don't get why killing someone in general is considered good. No matter who you kill it shouldn't be considered a good act. I just got a mod that removes the Karma gains from killing.
And even if it's meaningless in terms of gameplay, I still like to have my status correctly displayd.

It would be nice to know how the writers decide who is good and who is evil in this game. For example, why do I get bad karma when I kill Mr. House and good karma for killing fiends and feral ghouls?

This is actually one of the few mods that alter the game that looks appealing to me. I don't like the "oooooo, that was naughty" notification whenever I steal a skill magazine. I don't get any negative karma for feeding drugs to women so they'll have sex with me either, so the karma system is not only pointless but kinda dumb.

Put them out of their misery maybe, no idea about Mr. House though.

LOL.. Check out the new Fallout. They've completely removed this old binary karma system and replaced it with, err.. nothing. Now there's no karmic omniscient god watching over your shoulder and judging your character.

Your entire settlement will try and kill you if you pickpocket a settler, so the new system isn't all that great either.

Don't worry so much about karma. Faction reputation, like in Fallout 2, is the much more imporant mechanic. You couldn't go be friends with the NCR if you have the tat. And you can't be Caesar's buddy and do business at McCarran.
