Youre best off locking the FPS at 60 anyway because of the engine
ignore the other guy in the thread, "the engine" is fine going over 60fps if you're running NVTF which you should be regardless of your load order for general stability.

the only alternative to NVR that implements shadows is ENB which is... NVR is better for a variety of reasons, to say the least. If you want to increase FPS peep wall's performance guide (https://performance.moddinglinked.com/falloutnv.html). some NVR effects are more costly than others, I personally turn off Lens and Depth of Field, as well as drop shadow resolution to 2048 or 1024 depending on what its currently at.

i dont know what resolution you're playing at but if you're higher than 1080p you might want to consider dropping it for the sake of performance. i play at 1080p with some sharpening effects from reshade and it looks great, though my eyes are much more used to 1080p in general. lossless scaling and framegen might be worth looking into though admittedly I dont know much about its upscale features

this ones anecdotal, but i've found having any sort of "The Frontier.esm" either from Frontier itself or the standalone cars fork from the steam guides section drains like a solid 10-20 fps on average.

hope you're able to increase the performance :steamhappy:

"If" which he might not be since theres thousands of players still playing FNV without stability mods to this day. Objectively, Havok engine will cause bugs when running the game uncapped and unmodded.

Not according to the author of NVTF. He still personally caps at 60, and recommends others do the same. The game can still exhibit physics issues and other problems over 60. 120 is generally regarded as safe, but not 100% so.

Can also use NVR with Lossless Scaling framegen from right here on Steam. Double your FPS, minimal artifacts and minimal input lag if you're already hitting close to 60. I don't recommend the scaling aspect, but the framegen works quite well.
