Whats your Favourite Modlist for FNV?
Looking for some recommendations on peoples experiences with modlists (wabbajck or not) like Begin again or Uranium fever. Thinking of giving them a try after my last careful and time consuming attempt modding this game resulted in a landscape bug that no one could seem to help fix. Don't want to waste that much time again if I can help it. I'm not new to modding, just haven't modded bethesda games in a VERY long time so a bit out of practice.

I hoping for a modlist that keeps the games visual style as much as possible, but with added QOL and modernised animations for weapons. Already not keen on the weather and lighting for UF from the little I've seen of it, but if people think its an good list for other reasons I'll still consider it.

Thanks in advance!

The appeal of mods is to customize the game according to my own preferences, not someone elses. Modlists are contrary to that ethos.

Not everyone wants to spend hours trying to get mods to work together. Do you know how to do mod conflict resolution patches? Probably not. Modlist authors on wabbajack and nexus collections typically know what they are doing. Much more than the usual player trying to mod. These mod lists are great for people who just want to jump in and play.

Unfortunately this isn't the case most of the time. You still see modlist authors in 2024 putting in NVAC, NVSR, etc. They only know how to use Nexus more than the common user. Their mod knowledge isn't that much better.

I understand.

I've spent a considerable amount of time doing that, and I'm more confident in my own ability than most others who aren't also an experienced mod author.

Maybe more than the usual player trying to mod, but that's a pretty low bar.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but it's my belief that the people who just want to jump in and play are better off playing vanilla.

sad but oh so true; the era of the technical gamer has passed, and each year it gets worse, I mean gamers today would rather use mods to configure their ini files or pick console commands from a list in a menu than actually learn them... the perpetual dumbing-down of computer users for profit continues unabated, and gamers are quite susceptible to it, since they don't want to learn the tech stuff, they just want to game. even popular collections rarely get above a 70% anymore, because someone, somewhere has issues with it, compared to just a decade ago. troubleshooting load orders and patches for weeks on multiple machines and with a select set of testers? yeah no I'm not doing that, works for me, hope it works for you!

which unironically is what users say too: I use <blah> and it's great, works for me!

so, you know, choose wisely. :devilskiss:

Hmmm maybe I should've just made another post asking for bug fix help with my current load order. Might've gotten more results that way.

Go for Uranium Fever if you're doing a wabba. The support staff is active in fixing bugs, it has a robust community of people able to help, and it's generally decently designed.

If you're not a fan of the visuals (tbh neither am I, they did some things I don't approve of with my NVR settings), replacing the UH NVR preset with my H2O preset should fix that right up.

Full disclosure, it also has some of my work in it, so although I don't personally use it there is some bias in my recommendation.

Barely a 70% success rating, using Nexus' crappy Collection system, with a stack of the pointless hornimods that VLK is known for dumped in.

Yeah, no.

tyvm! That recommendation might just fix my one issue with that modlist. I'll give it a look through once I'm ready to play, currently in the middle of playing some other games.

Vanilla. I'm a STRONG independent (vegas) courier who don't need no modlist.
