Is it just me, or does the aiming in FO3 and FNV SUCK? REAL BAD?
I love these games soooo much, but am constantly using melee weapons because I CANT HIT A SINGLE THING! The aiming is soo bad that I cant even hit the bottles in the tutorial because the aiming mechanism is not precise enough and overcorrects. This is not because I am bad at shooter games, I have played practically every modern shooter out there, COD, FC3, Battlefield Bad Company all the way up to Battlefield four, so on and so forth. But the aiming in the Fallout games just seems so tight and gridlike, it is really a BAD system. Does anyone know of a good mod to fix this? And I would also like to know what you guys think of the aiming system in this game? It almost seems like there are invisible squares that the reticle fits into so that you CANT actually get a precise shot. I dont know maybe its just me.

Guns skill is still taken into account when manual aiming, so the guns will never be totally accurate to what you're aiming on unless you have really high guns skill. You could get the realistic damage mod, which makes the combat more lethal and ADS more like a shooter.
You need to understand its an RPG and not a FPS. If the aiming sucks its because your skill in those weapons is low.
Yes , it sucks bad

Absolutely. This game has guns, it even allows you to shoot them from the first-person perspective, but this game is not a shooter but rather an RPG. If you come looking for refined and nuanced gunplay you will be sorely dissapointed. Roleplaying is what this game was designed for, and it is there that it shines.

No, I know it is an RPG, I am a big RPG fan, the bullets missing is not the problem, it's the controls with the reticle that are bad. The actual process of moving the crosshair is what is difficult for me. I actually like the fact that some of the bullets veer off to the sides, it's just the target acquisition that is the problem.

what i mean is that the controls are a lreally difficult to, well, control

Are you using controller or K+M?

controller

There lies the problem. I tried NV with a controller for like a minute cause I forgot i had mine plugged into the computer and I was like eh I'll give it a chance. EW how anyone could play these games on a console is beyond me.

ok, well i appreciate your advice, i was really just asking if anyone knew of a mod to help
baddude1337 Jul 3, 2014 @ 7:36pm
Yeah, the controller does feel super clunky in this game. I had about 100 hours on the Xbox version before moving to the PC, the mouse is much smoother to aim with in this game. And I'm not talking about K+M in general, the analog stick aiming in this game just feels rubbish.

ok thanks. i will try it with a mouse
