Van Graffs - suddenly hostile?
Hi guys,

i have a little problem with van Graff. I dont know, but suddenly they are hostile? I entered Freeside and i was attacked by van graffs advertising guy at the corner. Simon, van graffs are all hostile and i dont know why?

Ok, there are some possibilities. At my last visit i robbed the whole store, hack computer and this stuff. But i was always hidden? I leave the store and all was ok... I also finished the Cass-Quest. For no apparent reason they are become hostile..I want know why

If the Courier helps Cass find evidence of the Van Graffs trying to kill her in the quest Heartache by the Number they will become hostile when Cass is nearby. If you wish to avoid hostilities, approach the Silver Rush without Cass or stealthily kill the door guard Simon. Complete the Heartache by the Number quest in Cass' favor will also turn the Van Graffs members hostile to the Courier.

In addition, their crier sometimes gets upset with you for what seems no reason. If you leave and come back, he won't be upset anymore. If you open fire on him, even if you don't kill him, all the Van Graffs will now be permanentely hostile against you.

You answered your own question in the second paragraph - you finished Cass' quest. Once you've finished that, and hand in the evidence, the Van Graffs become hostile to you for it.

Why? I finished the quest in the peacefull way. If i remember cass want to kill the van graffs first, revenge? I have said: "No, cass. Lets send our evidence to the west. The court/goverment will take care of it". I got no message or something that the van graffs want my ass or i miss something? And why is Alice McLafferty not hostile against me?

I was expecting that the goverment need a long time to react or do nothing. It makes no sense in my opinion that the van graffs commit suicide. Kill me hitmen or try it inside the shop, I would understand. But why on open street like this freeside gangsters?

Word gets around. Presumably the Van Graffs find out the the player and Cass outed them to the NCR. Given their reputation as ruthless psychopaths, this outcome seems reasonable enough.

Weren't you paying attention? You turn them in to the NCR with immense evidence of how corrupt their business is. Not only is that quite a bit of a crime, but the Graffs have been rivals with the NCR since back when the NCR was little more than a village.

Van graffs was murdering caravans. thats a death penalty even before the apocalypse.

They don't have anything to lose. also after you kill them you can loot their shop.

It doesn't matter that you did it "the peaceful way" - you still gave evidence against them to the NCR. They're going to be pissed at that. McLafferty isn't hostile because your reputation with the Crimson Caravan Company is actually lumped in with the NCR.
