is the strip that small in lore or is it bigger?
in the fallout new vegas comics it's way bigger, is the strip small because of perfomance?

It's smaller due to the engine and consoles.

from the looks of it the TV show made Vegas smaller as there is only the strip and no West Side, Free Side, North Vegas or Micarron air port.

What we could have had an hour video on cut content of the strip.

All Bethesda games are smaller than they should be, but that's just a game limitation. This game also had a massive time constraint, NV was made in just 18 Months.

The Strip and the world around it should be about 5 times the size it actually is.

Scaled down locales is not necessarily a bad thing in a video game. Otherwise, it would take you an hour just to walk from one end of the Strip to the other.

they could just make the lucky 38 an actual location on the map or just make it close to the north gate

well i guess it's smaller because they wasted most of their budget on that fight scene, and it would be too expensive for an 8 second scene

In-game, there was some technical limitations and performance issues especially on consoles. That's why they had to split up the Strip in two. There were some E3 concepts that showed what it was supposed to be and some modders have even tried to recreate it using those references.

As for it being scaled in comparison to real life, I think Obsidian was going more for 1950's-1960's Vegas which was smaller and more compact compared to what is now.

there's a mod that restores some of the cut content streets iirc

Strip, Freeside open is very taxing on even decent hardware good to see what their intended plan for both cells were.

Not saying you can't just both mods are enabling unfinished scrips and files in the game so bugs can happen.

I don't mind the walls around vegas, or even freeside, I just wish it wasn't made out of trash. There's really no reason in the lore as to why they couldn't have been new concrete/adobe, or anything besides a pile of rubble. Same with the downgrade of the casinos from the E3 build to release

It wasn't made of trash, see the video above hell their whole series gives insight into what FNV could have been
