Possible fix for the game crashing due to Address space layout randomization (For Windows 10 and maybe other Windows versions).
How do I know if this affects me?

If you click on "Play" in the launcher and the game doesn't start but crashes instantly, then this might be due to a security feature of the operating system called "Adress space layout randomization", short ASLR.

This happens because the launcher is starting the game executable but the game can't handle ASLR. Thus it crashes. There might be other causes, but this is just about crashes due to ASLR.

Now, what is ASLR?

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Address_space_layout_randomization:

"Address space layout randomization (ASLR) is a computer security technique involved in preventing exploitation of memory corruption vulnerabilities.[1] In order to prevent an attacker from reliably redirecting code execution to, for example, a particular exploited function in memory, ASLR randomly arranges the address space positions of key data areas of a process, including the base of the executable and the positions of the stack, heap and libraries. "

Uhm, okay... But how do we disable this for Fallout: New Vegas?

First, a word of warning: Unless you know what you're doing, don't play around with the security settings!
Also, these steps are for Windows 10.

With that out of the way, just follow these steps to add the FalloutNV executable and deactivate ASLR for it:

  1. Open the Windows Start Menu and click on Settings.
  2. Search for "exploit" and select "Exploit protection".
  3. Click on "Program settings".
  4. Hit "Add program to customize" and select "Choose exact file path".
  5. Select the FalloutNV.exe. For most this should be under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\FalloutNV.exe". If the ".exe" part is missing, then that's ok. It is hidden. Also, if you have installed the game elsewhere, then you have to change the path accordingly.
  6. In the window that opens scroll down to "Force randomization for images (Mandatory ASLR), check the box for "Override system settings" and toggle it off.
  7. Hit "Apply" and confirm or enter the admin password if asked for it.

Done. If ASLR was the cause for the game crashing, then it should work now.

Just for sure
Check your fallout in documents folder
If it on c/user/your user name/onedrive/document/fallout = game will not run, it not crash you cant see any crash error on computer log
Solution use revo uninstall to remove one drive completely from computer
If you already remove it by using control panel but it still save in "c/user/your user name/onedrive/document/fallout" install it again then use revo uninstall to remove one drive completely from computer
Remember to check your path and change on regedit https://www.pcgamer.com/onedrive-default-folder-location-fix-disabled-keeps-recreating/

True, others solved it years ago. It took me three days of trying to get the game to run, until I remembered that it was ASLR back in 2018 that was causing the game to fail to start. In those days I checked the Guide section and forum to no avail. Thus I decided to write my own guide in order to help others suffering from this problem.
good guide. thank you.
Thanks.

I had a save file a few years ago that was attached to one drive. At the time, my game worked fine, but I wanted to play the game again and I was having this looping problem. Turns out, my problem was that I had been signed out of one drive and it took me signing back in to fix my issue
