Shady Sands nuked after the events of this game (TV Show)
Todd confirmed that Shady Sands is bombed after the events of this game, crumbling the NCR into little significance shortly after. Regarding the canon ending, Vegas looks like a wreck, with the remains of NCR vertibirds and securitrons littering the streets. Its unclear how the battle of hoover dam ended, but with the lack of legion it wouldnt surprise me if they were beaten at the dam. My headcanon is that the NCR attempted to annex Vegas after defeating the Legion at the dam. During the assault, Vault Tec nukes Shady Sands and the NCR command structure crumbles leading to a mass desertion. The city and the Mojave are in tatters.

Todd Howard announced today that New Vegas is cannon and part of the show.

The New Vegas crowd is a "special" group of fans.

Fallout show: Shows New Vegas on the show, talks about NCR, emphasis their importance
New Vegas fans: wait New Vegas isn't cannon?!

:lunar2019crylaughingpig:
loosely sprinkling the game's core plot into your fanfiction doesn't make it canon, just as New Vegas made Van Buren's story non-canon by overwriting most of it, even though they reused a lot of the lore. Todd Howard can claim anything he wants, but if you have two conflicting stories, both of them can't be simultaneously canon.

Just the fact that they added three vaults in LA is a pretty egregious retcon, but personally I don't care about retcons so much as the fact that bethesda has zero respect for the lore at *all*, and they'll break canon for literally no reason.

Duck Hunt is better than fallout 3 and 4 combined
Duck Hunt sold like 28,300,000 since 1984 while 3 and 4 sold 37.4 million.
You are aware that production costs have to be taken into account. Duck Hunt (and by extension this argument also applies to NV) cost A LOT less to make than 3 and especially 4.

been playing this game again, one of the missionaries in freeside has some questions to verify youre ncr. one of them is "what is the ORIGINAL capital of the ncr?", the correct answer in the game is shady sands. this means shady sands is no longer the capital otherwise the question would but "what is the ncr capital".
He asks what the "original name" of the NCR capital was, not the original capital. It's name got changed between Fallout 1&2 and during New Vegas it's just called NCR

and you knew they were NEVER going to mention China or the Battle for Anchorage, right?
both were mentioned in the show. did you even watch it?
Sales numbers are irrelevant as anyone can point to a large selling title that markets towards a broad audience that people regularly dunk on i.e. God of War, Roblox, every sports game ever lol. Ok, it sold well, so what? Vapes sell well too :\

What you should be asking yourself is: "What authority does 'Official Canon' have when the IP changes hands?" There are many erudite videos diving into how exactly how it is that Bethesda simply doesn't understand the subject material (And how neurotic the lead writer is lol). So what value does official canon - which is bought - have over objectively logical canonicity?

Eh? What you on about
The show's faithfulness to the source material is only superficial at best. It's easy to be blinded by all the cool references to the game that the show makes, but when you stop to think about how nonsensical the plot actually is, you'll realize that the show is actually garbage. What's the plot?

Vault dweller needs to rescue dad because NCR military leader kidnaps him to try and interrogate a secret code out of him, nevermind the fact that she easily could've kidnapped her too for leverage since he openly confesses in front of his kidnapper that he'd do anything to keep his daughter safe. Also dumb is the fact that the dad goes from being a respectable leader and a loving father, to a complete scumbag by the end. You'll also notice that all the male characters in the story are either cowards, losers, dumb, naive, scumbags, or totally useless - I'm sure that this is not a coincidence. Another thing that isn't a coincidence is the fact that any mention of China starting the nuclear war is completely scrubbed along with the McCarthyism\Red Scare and pro-American propaganda that is prevalent in the Fallout source material, due to the fact that the games take place in a future as imagined during the height of the cold war, the 1950s.

It can be entertaining, sure, but it completely ♥♥♥♥♥ on the Fallout source material, while shoehorning in some politics that revise the lore, not unlike the way Disney did Star Wars dirty in the new trilogy. Furthermore, one of the most interesting factions in the game, the Brotherhood of Steel, are completely goofy in the show. As if it wasn't enough that Fallout 3 retcons them into something of a large Lawful Good organization from the small tightly-knit Neutral Evil organization that made them so interesting in the original games. I could go on and on, but if you liked the show... watch it again, ignore all the in-game references they make to lure you in, and simply pay attention to the plot - it's stupid.

I just did this mission last session.
To me, this says that Shady Sands name was changed. It's asking what was the original name, (before it was changed.)
Again, that's my take. I don't care if I'm right or wrong, or what you think/if you think different, I just recall that tonight going through my mind the other day. :D

I'm quite looking forward to seeing how the show plays out, and how the lore settles. After seeing S1, I'm feeling confident it will be a fun ride.

Edit: everyone sees it different too. For me, I've played FO1, Fallout 4 fully. I've played ALOT of NV and FO2. I only just started FO2 last week. Everyone sees shady sands/lore differently as well.

"Following the map markers to each of the squatter areas, the Courier will discover an NCR missionary in either one of them. Talking to them, they will ask the player character if they are a citizen of the NCR. By claiming NCR citizenship, they will administer a quick test to "verify citizenship status." The three questions are as follows:

Question 1 - Who is the most popular NCR President of all time?
Question 2 - What was the original name of the capital of the NCR?
Question 3 - What animal is on the NCR Flag?"

I don't remember the npcs being downright retarded in NV.

Nobark, Ricky, Chris Haversam, the fiends, Mr Fantastic, some NCR Soldiers, The Courier at times, I can go on. OH OH OH Lobotomites

Nobark isn't retarded, he's paranoid and delusional. Fantastic isn't either, he's a lame hustler. Haversam isn't retarded, he came to a stupid thought and got stuck on it. Real ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like RADical and Trash are dead before you meet them.
