how do i open vault 3 maintenance wing door

You have to talk to the ncr range found in the vault to get the key.

What do you mean "commands no workie"?

I assume OP is using console commands, but they must be doing something wrong.

you can also get the key from Daniel in the living quarters (just so happens i was there today)

commands to open the door doesnt work, but ill go find the ncr ranger in there ig

i think if you go through the doorway at the far end of that room (if the cage door is on your right) it should take you into a bunch of corridors with bedrooms on each side - he hangs around there

he's the only named fiend in the place except motor runner - so if you keep exploring you will find him

i did - doorway at the South end of the cage room leads to the bedroom corridors where Daniel hangs out

unlock, i used unlock then put in the door ID but it didnt work

sir, you can just click the door with your mouse and then type unlock. no need to put the door's ID manually

if you've done that as well, maybe just explore every corner of the vault? iirc, the key should be in an npc's possession, so you dont have to worry looking at desks
