Wonder when the honeymoon period will end and it will get the criticism it needs similar to Fallout 3 and 4.
Bethesda does decent world dressing, and it seems to kinda suck people in, but peeling it back any further reveals surface level writing and gimmicks. Sadly what fans now expect, so we're just old men griping at the clouds at this point.
Would have been a better game if it didnt carry the Fallout moniker
"Uhh, they're called the Cousins of Metal, not the Brotherhood of Steel! And those big green brutes are Ultra Aberrants, don't even know what a super mutant is, I swear!"
Thats because Bethesda fails to come up with any really creative ideas since the lead writers of Morrowind (who consulted for the better parts of Oblivion / worked on Kingdoms of Amalur), left. Emil has been running the show along with Howard, and a couple other creatively bankrupt designers.
More or less leading the team blind to do whatever they want no matter how it impacts of affects pre-established lore, or even just keeping consistent within a single game, without making sure one or two quests dont contradict each other and make factions look absolutely incompetent and poorly written.
I do enjoy the Bethesda Fallouts for my own reason, but it will never be for lore. Or if it is, its with mods that add things in from fans who understand the lore, or cut content from things like Josh Sawyer.
Its not terrible in all means, but as a fan of the series, it is. As a regular TV viewer, I have no idea what they think, as most things are poorly explained.
Thats been the trend. The only hate comes from Fallout NV fanboys. Not realising we care about the series and have enjoyed most games, but really hoped the show* would take it a different direction. Not to mention we always used to separate east and west coast based on the games, and now with the show, they just ♥♥♥♥ all over the west coast. AKA, the OG Fallouts.
If we didnt criticise anything, it would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weird.
Some of the Fallout 4 fans are weird AF, I got dogpiled for suggesting that the vanilla building system was "pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ janky", like it wasn't (and still is) super janky 😄
I'm thinking of it like Spider-man "One More Day" or anything else that poorly deviates from the original Peter Parker. The original and new Ultimate are doing good though. The new one got me buying comics again. Off topic though.
It like there own deviation of the original 616 Spidey Universe, but some poor parody of it like Marvel tried with other versions of their characters, as well as Peter Parker.
Unfortunately, that just leaves out hope they will eventually get their ♥♥♥♥ together and get a more serious progression going from Fallout 2 and NV. At least on the west coast. ♥♥♥♥ around with your east coast...most of us kinda just excepted that, and were able write around in our roleplaying.
Now they gone and really nuked that, while also saying its canon.
House being part of the Enclave? WTF? Going with the disproven old fan theory that Vault Tech soley was responsible for the nukes?
Also BRINGING THEM BACK AGAIN?! How many times are we gonna have to nuke the enclave, while finding our father, son, extended cousin, twiced removed stepsister, or brother from another mother?
