Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout: New Vegas

Statistiche:
My New Vegas broke
I had a 10-hour playthrough but decided to start anew, I added a few more mods for this new playthrough but to my dismay it flatout broke my game. I tried fixing it but it just didn't work so I decided that I'll do a fresh start and unlinked, disabled, and deleted all the mods and even reinstalled New Vegas. It didn't work.

idk how to link videos here so i just made a channel on yt and posted it there

game is small (less than 10gb) so perhaps lets start with a vanilla game.

uninstalling/reinstalling games/mods uninstalls/reinstalls downloaded files ONLY. the process does NOT remove any folders/files created when the game runs. I recently uninstalled Fallout 4 - in the steam game folder I found a .dll library and a .ini file that I had been experimenting with and had forgotten about.

go to folder
....\steam\steamapps\common
rename fallout new vegas folder something else like falloutnvOLD

go to folder
c:\users\yourWindowsLogin\appdata\local
rename FalloutNV folder something else like FalloutNVOLD

go to folder
Documents\My Games
rename FalloutNV folder something else like FalloutNVOLD (your 10 hr save file is in this folder)

now steam verify game files. steam will download and install just the game files into new empty folders. start a new game and see if just the vanilla game works. if so, move the 10 hr save file from the old Saves folder to the working Saves folder

just to clarify when i do do this later, so I just change the name of the folders of new vegas (the root folder and the folder in app data) to FalloutNVOLD or something like that right??

Then just verify the integrity of the game files?
some users are uncomfortable deleting folders/files/.exes suggested by some unknown random internet user. by renaming the folders/files/.exes, all YOUR "stuff" is still on your pc - just renamed. you can always rename the folders/files/.exes back to the original names if you believe this process screwed things up worse.

when you steam verify game files, steam will see the game install folder files are gone and will redownload them.

Manually Delete your 2 main new vegas folders. One is where your .exe launcher is, the other is your my games folder where your saves and .ini files are. delete them both and re install your game and delete all saves you had mods installed on.
