The JSawyer mod and it's variations
Why is there such little coverage on it? Outside of some videos of Josh Sawyers Twitch stream vods and a SINGLE playthrough by Many A True Nerd, there's pretty much no videos about it, covering it, or it's few but arguably better variations.

Why is that? I feel as if it's a really great "Director's Cut" and/or mod to rebalance the whole game and make it play closer to an actual RPG and the way Obsidian intended/wanted.

The mod is pretty much essential to me and always goes in my load order. Do you feel the same? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yeah it's been in my load over for over a decade, definitely a must have for me.

Which version do you use? I use JSUE with Push's Tweaks. It makes the most sense with what Josh Sawyer and/or Obsidian would have wanted.

I normally use jsawyer ultimate, but this most recent play through I'm using sawyer batty. Definitely prefer ultimate tbh

I only use the ultimate one, already have the patches and stuff for other mods, too lazy to do that with the others.
But I have no idea on what they change from the normal one, except ultimate that fixed some stuff.

I think a part of it is how Josh Sawyer is not in the gaming conscience, but everyone and their mother know who Todd Howard is. Just image Todd Howard releasing a directors cut for Fallout 4. Coverage would be massive, regardless or how much he gets memed on.

The Todd Howard "it just works" director's cut. 16x the detail, unlimited horse armour, and every quest rewritten by Emil - quest giver hates your guts, you do a quest for them then for no reason at all they now love you, next quest requires you kill them for that emotional attachment™️.

JSawyer Ultimate Edition doesn't change much apart from inconsistencies with the original mod, like the original mod changing the weight of cans from 1 weight to 0.1 but not other misc items like scapels, syringes, etc. There's also some minor armor tweaks that make sense and are consistent with the original mod's scope of changes. Besides those, and other obvious improvements by remaking the mod (because Josh Sawyer isn't good at programming, in his own words) there's not much else notable.

There's a REALLY comprehensive changelog on the Nexus page for the mod. When I say comprehensive, I really mean it. It's very straight forward and clear with what the original mod changed, and what the Ultimate Edition changes compared to the original.

That's probably a fair assessment, really. However, even OTHER popular YouTuber's/Streamers whom of which EXCLUSIVELY post Fallout content, don't bother to mention the mod either.

Seems like a troll, really, but I'll reiterate the goal of the OP... Why do you think it sucks?

Because it's dumb, and, on top of that, the mod's page doesn't have any images or even explains what it does.

Definitely a troll, and none of that is true even in the slightest LOL

It's covered or at least mentioned in most guides, and covered by basically every competent NV YouTuber at one point or another - sure, dramatubers and modporn clickbaiters don't mention it, but they seldom mention anything of value anyway.

There are so many alternatives these days and variation today too - you're more likely to see newer alternatives like Vigor being recommended.

A fair bit of the modding community doesn't use or mention JSUE since the author is...not a popular person in most circles, and also since unlike some other JSsawyer remakes, Push didn't ask Josh Sawyer for permissions or blessings on fixing/remaking jsawyer and using his name on it. Sawyer has been clear at least once that he's not super happy with that, and his opinions carry a fair bit of weight with a lot of modders.

You've got a confluence of factors that make it seem less well-known than it is, but jsawyer derivatives are some of the most commonly used mods out there in my experience.

From what I understand and have seen of Josh Sawyer's opinion of Push's port/remake of his mod...he's more critical of of using the JSawyer mod namesake without "permission/blessing" than any actual changes/fixes (of inconsistencies) they've done.

I just see that as Josh Sawyer being sort of a narcissistic baby in that regard...and in the regard that as far as I'm aware Push hasn't made ANY money off of JSUE. Anyway what is Push supposed to do? It's basically the exact same thing, just properly programmed and such. If they didn't include the JSawyer nomenclature, they would for sure have gotten (rightfully I feel like) accused of plagiarising. Push has made it abundantly clear that the origin or even idea of the mod is not their own, all the while paying homage and credit to Josh Sawyer by using the JSawyer mod nomenclature in and of itself.

It's not really fair, especially when considering modders such as Arthmoor.

You asked a question and I answered the question. I didn't say I agree or disagree in either direction.

And yeah my wording was clunky, but I meant to imply that *mainly* it was the naming of the mod, not the content that was at issue with Sawyer. Although iirc the massive expansion of the scope of the mod was a bit iffy in his commentary too.

Oh yeah,I appreciate the comment and the insight. I just thought I'd clarify and expand a little bit on what you said with my view of things.

Do you personally use JSUE or SawyerBatty or JSawyer? I don't think you said.
